I feel a lucid dream coming..

I used to have many lucid dreams, but the last few months I haven't been. Anyway, within the last couple days I 'feel' like I am going to have one. I have felt this way before, and it is usually followed by a night of heavy lucid dreaming. Hopefully this feeling pans out.. Oh yeah, thanks for the nice welcome to the community. I am shocked I hadn't stumbled across this site before.

Is there any way to describe this feeling you get?
Maybe we all get signs of lucid "preemptive activity" prior to actual dreaming, but we dont know how to identify it.
      Your input would be great

      Damn!

Ok, no lucid dream last night. I think its this sleep schedule that is drowning my chances at ld'ing. I go to bed around 12 each night and then up around 6 to go to work . One good thing though is that my dream recall and vividness is getting a lot better since last week when I signed up for and started skimming this site - like 2 dreams a night compared with 0.

About the 'feeling': I don't know if I can decribe it, but it feels like I am on the same 'wavelength' as my mind. I guess most of the time I have decisions I have to make, emotions, etc that drive my day, but sometimes I get into a frame of mind where I feel a little more "at-home" in myself and I guess you can say my inherent potentiality. I just KNOW that I will find myself wandering around a dream world in the not too distant future. I usually try to tell one of my friends how I am feeling just to cement it, and its usually 90% accurate I would say.

As for last night, I think I didn't get to that point cause I did not allow myself enough sleep to get there - it was a battle to get up this early - the dreamer in me almost won!, but hey I figured the weekend is just around the corner and I can sleep till noon and be in almost constant REM then.

I wish you the best of luck, and hope that you'll become lucid tonight!

By the way, I assume you are an Incubus fan? There are several of us around the board, perhaps the biggest ones being Lowercase and myself. In fact, I am listening to "Here in my room" right now

      See you around!

I'd be more inclined to bow
Powers that be would have swallowed me up
But that's more than I can allow...

Welcome! I have never experienced such a feeling though, and like the rest of us, I'm curious about it to.

Yeah you could say that. Their music transcends this reality and is some of the most inspiring I have ever heard. Good to know other Incubus fans are in the house!

Also, about my 'feelings'. They are not frequent. I really wish they were, but when I get them they usually don't pass until I have had a really good night of dreaming/ld'ing. I really thought last night one would come, but I did have a cool "normal" dream where my brother and I watched as 4 or 5 alligator snapping turtles (just think huge prehistoric snapping turtles) were swimming in beautiful formation as fluidly as dolphins or otters. Maybe tonight I will break my rut and have a lucid dream or two, I still feel ripe for them.

Are their many people in this community who are able to ld at will? That really is my goal, even though I feel light years from it.

      Welcome welcome!!

I kind of feel something similar.. like I can feel that I'll have a LD soon.. lol haven't had one since joining, but I think just being aware of LDs increases your chances greatly.

      Alaurast78, I LOVE your avatar. 8)

      Welcome Wayward, I'm new, too.

I think I know what you mean about the "feeling"--I've had it lately, too, just from reading stuff in the forums and thinking about LDs again. I've never done any exercises or anything to spark LDs, so I guess I just recognize when I'm in a state of mind similar to times I've had LDs in the past. My dream recall has improved a lot the last few days (for better and worse--I had a wicked nightmare the other night), and last night I took a lot of control in a non-lucid dream, so I suspect there might be an LD around the corner for me. Maybe it will convince me to start meditating again--lucid waking is fun, too
If you have a sense of caring for others, you will manifest a kind of inner strength in spite of your own difficulties and problems. With this strength, your own problems will seem less significant and bothersome to you. By going beyond your own problems and taking care of others, you gain inner strength, self-confidence, courage, and a greater sense of calm.Dalai Lama
