the trance stage....

I recently discovered lucid dreaming and I have a few questions. The trance stage is easy for me, but it really creeps me out sometimes. The vibrations I can handle, but when you are doing this stage before entering WILD does anybody ever notice that the white noises in your room, like a quiet fan blowing becomes magnafied? I can hear it really loudly as if it becomes linked to the vague images passing through my mind, and even more white noises in the room become louder. Not to mention, but is it also normal to feel your pulses beat? Sometimes I just get creeped out and quit.
