New here and a question or two

Hey, I'm new here as you can see. I stumbled upon this site while looking for a way to better remember your dreams and to seeing what causes sleep paralysis. That's when I found out about LDs and thought they seemed really cool and could be fun. I've read up on some dream recall techs and they've been working pretty good so far, (I usually can remember 2 dreams per night, but if its an off night only 1.) I was wondering when I should attempt gaining lucidity? Am I going at an ok pace as it is or should I be getting more dreams recalled per night?

You can try getting lucid while training your dream recall, it's not like perfect recall is necessary. In fact, you've probably been lucid and don't remember it before.

Train yourself to start doing reality checks. :)

You can start to practise lucid dreaming when ever you want. While practising, you can make a dream journal at the same time and improve your dream recall. It's a double wammy :P

If you feel confident that you're ready to start trying to achieve lucidity, go for it. It's important though to keep at it and stay in a positive frame of mind.

A physical dream journal would be good if you don't have one already. Get an actual book that will house only your dreams. This way you might possibly find a reoccurring them or object in your dreams that could help trigger lucidity.

Hello OneWingedAngel77 and a big WELCOME to Dreamviews.

Good advise above about the dream journal but I disagree with the "trying to gain lucidity now."

My advise is to start doing frequent reality checks, like every half an hour, until it becomes a habit (which will probably take a couple of weeks if you are persistant and committed) and start the Dream Journal.
The idea being that during this time, a RC should occur during a dream and you will become lucid without trying.

Another reason not to "try" yet is that failure brings disappointment, frustration, anxiety and doubt, factors that will inhibit your chance of achieving lucidity. Better let the LD come to you naturally.

After perfecting the two basic skills, then you can start to experiment with ways to become lucid.

Most people have their first LD experience when they have not "tried" and a lot after they have given up "trying". Dont rush it.

Thats my advise and I hope it makes sense.
