um... hi?
hey there folks, just stumbled upon this site, and after reading the general information decided to hit the forums :D
I've known about lucid dreaming for what must almost be 4 years now, and although my interest in actually gaining this ability is high, there have been a number of things that get in my way whenever I get on a roll- i'll generally go hard for a few months then leave it after I hit a new dead-end (repeat)
Anyway, had just been thinking about trying it out again which is part of the reason I found this site.
My main problem is that my dreams for the most part seem to be very different from other people's. It is very, very rare that I have a dream based on what I've done during the previous days for example, and they're not often set in our normal everyday world at all (this may sound like a random plug for my own ends but, I have a facebook group up where i've been recording some of my dreams [Dream Scripting] so maybe have a look there to get a better picture).
My original thought was that, because of the fact that everything is strange and new, I would be able to wake myself up (become lucid) quite easily, but for some reason, whenever I question anything in these dreams I think of it as being completely normal. Not just in a "oh, this must be normal way" but in the same way I might question something in real life, actually engaging all mental faculties, and coming up with the result that THIS is the real world.
I'm already past the dream-recall stage, I remember my dreams in ridiculous depth, colours, sounds, emotions, sights, events, and can remember up to three a night if I put my mind to it, but cannot get past that next step yet.
I've had lucid dreams before, just can't get them regularly, or much of a level of control.

Hi and welcome to the site.
Perhaps a peek through the dream journals of others here will help you out. Maybe you'll find someone who has a situation similar to yours and you can borrow whatever method they are using to get lucid.
