Red face I love you guys

      You'll see why momentarily.

A friend from another forum introduced me to this site and I found the topic of lucid dreaming very interesting so I decided to give it a shot. Two days ago I began a dream journal, being fortunate enough to have a vivid dream the very first night, and filled out a dream sign chart in addition to doing hourly to half-hourly reality checks.

Yesterday I took some time to read your tutorials on melatonin and B-6. Now, me being a complete newbcake didn't want to go overboard so early by trying to induce lucidity through supplements. But, since my dad owns a pharmacy and I can get as much of the stuff as I want for free anyway, I went ahead and grabbed a couple bottles before leaving.

Last night I took 2mg of melatonin an hour before sleep and 50mg of B-6 right before bed. I set my alarm for 4:30am and went to sleep.

I woke up at the sound of the alarm (also noticing that I had missed a call I had been in such a deep sleep) and woke my mind up a bit before lying back down. I realize that trying to WILD on your second night is probably jumping the gun a bit, but so was my self-medication. Either way, it worked.

I went through the process of counting to myself and repeating the phrase "I am dreaming" over and over until I just fell asleep. The problem was that I didn't feel the sleep transition, I just went to sleep like normal. Then the weirdness happened.

My dream began with my eyes closed. I slowly opened them and there, standing in front of me with his stare focused on me was...not a familiar face...not a member of my family...but Satan! The devil himself was standing...apparently in my grandparents' house, as this is where my dream decided the setting would be.

The funny thing was, the very second I saw him my brain clicked into action and I said out loud in my dream "This is a dream!" and before the devil could react I screamed a war cry, grabbed his tail and started swinging him around like a flail, smashing through walls, tables, windows, throwing him down stairs, stabbing him...the prince of darkness was getting his ass handed to him in a most brutal, yet melodic way.

That's when my uncle walked in, asked in his perfect jersey accent "what's all the racket?" and I woke up, alone in my room.

Needless to say, I've put the tablets in my medicine cabinet for now. I just love you guys for teaching me how to have such a badass dream.

Yeah, who said nightmares were a bad thing? Well, as long as you're lucid...

congratulations! on your awesome Lucid Dream!

HOWEVER, it seems you did not 'technically' WILD. Because you fell asleep/lost consciousness (this doesnt happen in WILD). It seems you fell asleep...but because you had the LD concept of your mind, you simply had a DILD.

but, it doesnt really matter: after all you had a great LD. I just thought Id step in to set that straight.

      Quality LD's: 16

Oh yeah, maybe I should have worded that differently. Thanks for clearing it up, though.

Most of my WILDs start out with me opening my eyes and ther isn't a loss of conciousness. I"m still aware that my body is drifting to sleep and as the dream scene morphs into shape there comes the little shift in the mind that alerts I've switched over to dream mode. After that switch my my eyes pop open. (which is a habit I'd like to get out of since I know we don't use actual eyes in dreams)

There is no loss of conciousness, all the opening eyes are is like a switch on into all out dream mode signifying that my body is asleep enough to step into and enjoy the lucid dream.

      *edit*

      I forgot to say...

      WELCOME TO DREAM VIEWS!
Congrats on the lucid dream and hope you have billions more!

      Awwwwwwwww...so close.

I have a couple nightmares a month, they have been increasing lately, but are almost all nuclear holocaust related. So last night I have one again. I hear air raid sirens going off so I run to my basement which is down a flight of stairs. I look down and see the stairs and remember that stairs are one of my dream signs. I finally get a good honest-to-god lucid feeling and the entire world feels so real. I get to the foot of the stairs and decide that I really would rather gtfo of this dream then sit around and get vaporized. At that moment I remember the spinning technique I've read about here and give it a shot. I must have spun just a little too hard because I spun myself awake...which is better than nuclear war I guess.

I just have to remember to calm down next time, or "stabilize" as you call it. This is so exciting! ^_^

Ninja, he can get the drugs for free, his dad owns a pharmacy. But I agree that you shouldn't take them often. Also go ahead and try wilds, maybe they are the method for you. Each of us is different. I also think that some were I read that your not supposed to take mellotonin and b6 at the same time.

      Well, good luck to you.
