Just can't seem to get Lucid anymore

Heres a little background on me.

I joined this forum last year, and within a week of eat/sleep/drink lucid dreaming, i was waking up from my first lucid dream. I had a couple more. All was great.

Well that was a year ago, i haven't had a lucid dream since. I gave up for a bit, then started again. I picked up my dream diary, recording dreams and hardcore reality checking for 2 weeks. Nothing happend. I stopped again.

Now i really want to pick it up and start LD'n again. I miss the feeling so much! :(

Since now and then, 9/10 i have always gone to bed wanting a lucid dream, ive tried b6 drugs, Lucid MP3's etc.

Id just like a few tips from people that have been in my possition. Should i keep on with the 20+ R/C a day? I know some people on here don't bother with them at all.

Out of curiousity, are reality checks and journaling the only techniques you're using right now? How about WBTB and MILD, do you practice those? WBTB really seems to help me more than anything... there's a study by LaBerge http://www.lucidity.com/NL63.RU.Naps.html that shows that on average WBTB increased the chances of lucidity by ten times!

Persistence is key to getting good at lucid dreaming... even though it can be really hard to keep with it during a horrible dry spell (a year without lucidity for you must have been frustrating) you just got to stick with it and you'll see success. Hope this helped/motivated you in someway :)

well people go through dry spells where they just stop having lucids for a while perhaps this is your problem.

However if Rc's and DJing are your only techniques then it may be best if you try other attempts such as WBTB and MILD like Zimmer suggested. Just to add a little extra work into going lucid.

Also yes keep up the RC's ect, 10-15 is pretty much enough but hey the more the merrier!

I used to try MILD but as i get very tired, i loose focus and my mind wonders. I will give it a good go tonight and the rest of the week.

Conclusion
Getting up an hour early, staying awake for an hour or more reading about lucid dreaming, doing MILD briefly, then taking a morning nap is an excellent means of achieving lucid dreams. This technique is one of the most powerful, promising means of achieving lucidity.

I guess this can only be done on days off then. !

Are you asking what WBTB means?

Tried MILD last night but it took me over 2hrs to get to sleep. In the end i just let my mind drift off onto whatever it wanted and i fell straight to sleep.

Woke up tired and annoyed and remembering nothing.

The first time that I had a lucid dream it was a year before I had another one. Dry spells are common (I'm in one right now) and they last for varying amounts of time. Just keep at it and it'll happen.

Wake Back To Bed, another induction method for Lucid Dreams

I was always a big fan of LaBerge's style :D One thing i did that worked for me a couple times was i wrote "LDRC" (lucid dream reality check) on the back of my hand, and whenever i looked at it i would do a reality check. I guess the reason it worked, for me, was that it gave a tangible queue to reality check in a dream that was also very obvious as a dreaming thing. when you see LDRC, you KNOW youre supposed to RC from it...i dunno, i thought it would work for me and it did! i got more than a few lucid dreams off it :)

I think WBTB is an equivalent to what i know as the Nap technique, names are unimportant...but i guess its when you wake up earlier than usual, stay up for 45 min-1 hr or until before your tiredness fades...and then go back to bed

i always did that in conjunction with mild. telling yourself to remember that youre dreaming, when you back to bed that is.

Am i doing MILD right? I was in bed ready for sleep and just cleared my mind of any other thought. I kept repeating to myself phrases like "i will realize i'm dreaming, i will be lucid tonight, i will remember my dreams"

I just couldn't "switch off" enough to fall to sleep whilst i was saying them over and over in my head. I gave up after 2hrs.
