lightsleeper, I'm glad you decided to join us!
If the lucid dream was very vivid, then yes I do remember it as if it happened in real-life.

Welcome lightsleeper :)
Definitely, but not always.
Quite a few of my lucid dreams were so amazingly vivid that I just stood there in awe at how amazing it was until I lost lucidity again.
In one, I was outside on grass, with a grape vine on the left, and puppies playing underneath it. In front of me was an almost-still lake, and the ripples on the lake looked so amazingly real.
In another one, I was on a boat on a waterway, and the buildings next to the waterway were covered in creepers. Everything was really clean and pretty, and incredibly real.

When I do have lucid dreams they tend to be as if they happen in real life, but a little clearer. My eyesite isn't the best, things a bit blurry, but in lucid dreams I can see very clear.

:welcome: kind of, they certainly seem real so I remember then as such.
Rare: Very interesting about your eyesight ;) Thanks for sharing that
Hello and welcome to the forums lightsleeper. I'm pretty new myself and just about everyone here is very helpful. Keeping a dream journal has actually been very enjoyable, so I think you should make one too if you haven't already.
I don't remember my lucid dreams as if they were real life. The reason for this is because when I think about "real life" it involves thinking logically and making connections. However, I found that my dream self is quite an idiot. Even when I'm dreaming lucidly I have flaws in my logic. When I wake up I realize these things and wonder how I didn't notice them in the dream. For example, last night while lucid the surroundings were changing. Though I knew I was dreaming I hardly noticed. I can't say that I remembered it as I do real life, because microwaves don't spontaneously turn into cupboards as far I know! Recalling dreams is also not like recalling memories. Some parts I have are forgotten, and sometimes I don't remember what my goal was in a dream, though it was so clear while I was in it. When I remember real life situations, I don't have holes in the memories. So, while it can be pretty similar there are many clear-cut differences at least for me.
Yeah, that's a good point.
It's incredibly real when you're IN it... but not usually afterwards
Welcome LightSleeper!
When I LD, I do remember it like it happened in real life. Many of my friends recently asked me about this and this is how I explain it to them, hope this helps for you as well.
When you LD, for that moment its reality to your subconscious because our subconscious is full of rich detail and realization and at a moments glance can produce such things.
When I am sitting in the cafeteria of my school in real life, my mind takes note of everything, all the details. Smells, sound, feeling, and tastes are all recored in my subconscious. Later on in the day, if I think about my time in the cafe, my mind can produce scenes of it. Of course, the scenes produced in the mind wont feel like the actual time in the cafeteria, but those sensations will remain in the memory.
When I am in a regular, non-lucid dream, and the scenery is the cafeteria, the mind still makes these mental notes. It takes into account all the senses that I am currently taking in...smell,sound, touch, etc. In many normal, non-lucid dreams, the senses (besides sight and sound of course) dont really come into play. So when you think of a dream, its in the same fashion as a regular memory, but it lacks the extremem detail like my real life experience in the cafeteria.
When in a LD, the experience is identical (if not more exhillarating) to that of real life. If I have a LD about myself in the cafeteria at my school, ALL of the senses will come into play for me and things out of the ordinary as well. In LDs one thing that you have, which you dont have in reality is FULL CONTROL over almost everything that happens. Remembering things like that is a great sensation. The memory of that, in result, is like an advanced version of a real memory. It includes things that are not possible and still contains all the exquisite detail.
Hope this helped :D
Happy LDing!!
welcome aboard!
sometimes i have trouble differentiating what happened in a dream and real life when i think back to the past.... my dreams are sometimes so vivid and real that the emotional whiplash hits me for days..... hence wanting to learn to control them!
