Getting oriented...
Hey everyone! Obviously I'm new here, but not so much to lucid dreams.
Before I knew what they were, I had maybe three lucid dreams as a kid (though I usually woke up all too soon). I always thought it was kinda neat I realized I was dreaming, but had a hard time changing things in the dream.
The past couple months I've been trying on and off to become lucid to a fair amount of success, only taking a couple days of reality checks every few hours to trigger. The problem is, I wake up right after I start flying (or whatever). I know about the spinning, rubbing hands, etc...but I never can remember to do it before waking up! Ah well, that's how dreams can be I suppose.
Hopefully I'll have another lucid soon to report back on!
Keep RC-ing,
Foxtail

Practice makes perfect! You can also try saying to yourself, "I will remember to... rub my hands in my dream" over and over again while falling asleep. Hopefully that will help to keep that goal in your mind once you become lucid.
Good luck!

I agree with Mes Tarrant. It's a technique called autosuggestion and it's been shown to work very well.

Hello. Welcome to Dream Views
All I've got left to say is also try to be calm and really take in your dream environment. Really stop for a few moments and take it all in. This can help the dream to become more stable.
Good luck getting longer stretches of lucidity.

Welcome Foxtail...:)
I'll agree with the others-- that going to bed with a specific goal in mind helps me stay focused and stay in the dream when I become lucid.
Good luck!

Thanks for the welcomes everyone! I'm going to be trying a DILD tonight, been doing RC's for the past few days, and plan on getting to sleep early and using some autosuggestion. Hopefully I can attain lucidity and keep it...

Just a few tips:
Usually when you start getting lucid, you'll immediatley want to go crazy and try some cool stuff. Flying, as well as lucid sex, is something that you should probablly try later in a lucid dream, as it usually makes you wake up.
My advice is to remain lucid, and try and go with the flow of the dream. This will not only increase your lucid length, but give you a positive lucid experience. Flying and other supernatural stuff can be tackled when you really have the ability to remain calm throughout the experience. Just try going with the flow and see how it works out!

Welcome to the forum Foxtail!
Most people tend to have lucids at a young age, it's just a way to escape nightmares as a kid. I'm pretty sure most people on here have had lucids as children.
It's good that you have had lucids lately though. Well good luck.

I wonder how many people actually started lucid dreaming due to their nightmare experiences. I've heard quite a few mention it.

Welcome Foxtail!
It can be frustrating to forget what you were wanting to do. Practice makes perfect though ;)
