soooooo wut is it???

as u can probably tell from my title, i just started.... AND IT SOUNDS LIKE THE COOLEST THING IN THE WORLD!
im big on the fantasy action magic thing and it would be so cool if i could actually do fantasy actiony magical things.
i never really get 2 do fun things in my dreams anyway. whenever im about 2 i wake up or someone else does it before i get the chance.
i think ive LDed before but i wake up every time. i usually tell myself "o god i dont like this situation. wake up, i can if i want 2." but does that count???
im really new. i just started. if anyone has tips id really luv 2 try it. i really want 2 LD. can anyone with experience tell me wut its like???
i must be getting annoying... but i really need help and this sounds SO COOL!!!

First off, welcome to DV! I'm new here as well. I'm not an expert but basically lucid dreaming is realising your in a dream when your in a dream. With practice you can fully control lucid dreams, that includes changing scenery, doing magic, fighting monsters, anything you want really.

If you said you could wake up when you want to, then you probably had some very faint knowledge that you were dreaming in the first place. :)

The Tutorials forum that Kiza linked you to is full of great information about how to lucid dream. Also, if you haven't seen it already, the Dreamviews Main Site is another great resource. A lot of members link directly to this forum, and miss that part of DV.

Yes, that is the first step towards lucidity. It means you already have had experiences where you recognised your dreams for what they are. Now you just need to develop the ability to continue the dream at that point instead of waking yourself up. It's a good start.

thanx for the help guys.
last night i just started the dream journal thing. i told myself 2 remember my dream a million times and i remembered 5 of my dreams!!!!:D
at the end of 2 of them i realized i was in a dream... but i couldn't stay awake. i kinda tried the dreamspinning thing, but i was already more than halfway out of the dream when the idea came 2 me.
have any of you guys been able 2 stay lucid 4 a while or control wut goes on yet??? wuts it like??? is it a lot of fun???

If you've started a dream journal, you may be interested in the Dream Journal forum. You can post your dreams in your very own thread there, and people can read and comment (and provide help) about your dreams.

You'll learn to stay in the dream longer, as you become more experienced. Two methods I've heard of are dream spinning (just spinning your dream body) and touching/feeling objects in the dream. The latter requires you to feel every property of the objects. Once you can stay in the dream for a while, control usually comes pretty easily. You may need to work to get some really cool dream control skills, but it's all a matter of feeling confidence and believing you can control your dream.

Lurker means that you're a new user with not very many posts (I think it's less than three for that title). Later on it changes to Member, and then staff get their own (moderator, dream guide, administrator). You can change it to whatever you want: User CP > Edit Profile > Custom User Title. :)
