      Sleep Paralysis

Ive heard talk about Sleep Paralysis what is this?

Oh and i have a little bigger question
last night i mighttt have had a false awakening then did an RC and thought that i was awake then kinda "went back to sleep" (if i wasnt already) and i (i think) realized i was dreaming and got a really weird tingling sensation but i didnt get a chance to dream about anything
do you always get a sensation when you realize your dreaming?

When you are asleep, your muscles are paralysed to keep you from acting out your dreams. Sleep paralysis is when you are awake, but your body is still asleep, and then paralysed.

I don't get any sensations when lucid. But that's just me.

Sleep paralysis is the paralysis of the body, which keeps you from acting out, what you act out, in the dremscapes you are in...

However.. It is often missundrstood, as some people think sleep paralysis refers to the state one are in, when one wake up, before the sleep paralysis is over.. And/Or stay awake, even though the sleep pralalysis has set in.. (More and more are seeing how this is not correct, though.)

In short: If you break sleep paralysis too early/soon, you might sleep talk.. Sleep walk.. Grind teeths, etcetera..

If broken to late, one can feel stuck.. Use it to attain lucidity in a dream.. Feel that someone is sitting on your chest, etcetera..

But there is even more to it than that..
I know who I am, as I become...

I'm not sure if you're being a dick or just have really scary SP. I can breathe just fine during SP. It can feel like a lead blanket being laid over you or like you're being thrown around your room. Each experience is different.

Here's a pretty decent site about sleep paralysis:
      http://watarts.uwaterloo.ca/~acheyne/S_P.html

Usually when people talk about sleep paralysis they are referring to when the body is immobilized to prevent movement during REM sleep, but the mind is still awake. Compared to sleeping one is conscious, but for most it is a slightly altered state of consciousness which explains why so many of us experience fear, hallucinations, and various sensations.

Wish I could say more about it, but it's really something that you'd have to experience to understand. If you're brave you might try inducing it. In my opinion it's worth the experience.

Sleep Paralysis is when your body starts to go to sleep causing you to get paralysed. Our bodies naturally go all paralysed as we sleep so that we do not live out our dreams. Usualy you experience sensations and hallucinations if you are conscious while this happens.

I never get sensations when I realise that I'm dreaming but then everyone's different. Are you sure you're not confusing the sensations of SP with a FA?

I accept OBEs as actual events...My feeling about sleep paralysis is simple..we are either leaving or returning and not quite fully *engaged* with our bodies...and it seems like paralysis, but it isn't really...

I say this because I have experienced both things, and both things scared the bejeezus out of me...

None of it hurt..I could breathe just fine...but the feeling of trying to make a sound or get up and not being able to is really scarey...Fortunately, I don't have the experience very often, and fortunately, I did learn that the way to come to completely is to realise I am asleep...or disengaged...and to just stop struggling and relax...Soon as I do that, I can wake up all the way again...
