What brought me here...and thanks!
Hi Guys – Mandy here.. I heard of lucid dreams years ago, had never experienced them and never thought much about them after initially thinking “that would be cool” way back then. I’ve always been an avid dream interpreter (of my own dreams) mainly because they fascinate me and I find that, not so much do they provide me with answers, but when I have a really vivid dream, there is usually something there that I need to address. I did try Astral projection at one stage a year or so ago, but I cant seem to quieten my chattery mind enough. I would still love to give it another go some day.
Over the years there have been some mystery dreams with strong symbolism and even more mysterious dream characters, some of whom I desparately wish I could run into again..but I believe they are just pieces of myself that I need to explore a little more.
Anyway! ….the other night I had a bizarre dream experience. Basically, I was driving in a old car and I lost my concentration because I was frustrated by a woman who had boxed me in and became too focused on her. Before I realized what had happened, I was standing in the street and watching the car drive off by itself. I knew this wasn’t good and made chase. There was not chaos at the bottom of the hill as I expected, just an old couple who directed me to a man sitting outside a café who “wanted to see me” I approached him and told him that I probably owed him some money and he agreed. He had a vintage sports car and the slight damage was going to be expensive. We took the car to a panel beater friend of mine. Why is it that you know who these dream people are but sometimes they look nothing like the RL person.
Without realizing it I awoke (but I now believe I was still dreaming) and then went back to sleep and began trying to convince the people involved that I didn’t really damage the car as this was only a dream – I was relieved to say the least. They kept telling me how ridiculous that was because “look, there is your car and there is the other car, here we are – how can this be a dream” I got quite upset and started crying telling them that I don’t own a car like that and I was trying so hard to save money to buy a home and the $10,000 would only drain me completely. I was so frustrated because I knew it was just a dream but they wouldn’t believe me. My partner then really did shake me awake as I was crying in my sleep.
I knew this was a dream I had to interpret, so I started to search through all the dream dictionaries (as I like to get a broad interpretation and make my own analysis as there is so much variance in them all). I found this site and it was like a slap in the face…WOW! I had a lucid dream. I was so inspired so I started to read more.
After reading the introductions, methods, tutorials and poring through the forums for hours from yesterday afternoon until late into the night, I ate a couple of bananas :banana:, grabbed a notepad and pen and off to bed I went. I don’t know why, but I was apprehensive and I felt a strange foreboding. After awakening I think the thread on Dream Walkers and Nightstalkers basically just scared the crap out of me…I had a night of extremely vivid, very scary dreams. Never underestimate the power of suggestion.
Unfortunately no lucidity, but I think every time I awoke and recorded my dream my only intention on falling back to sleep was to go to a nice place, rather than another awful one. So tonight, I think I’ll watch a nice happy movie, drink some chamomile and listen to some relaxing music as I fall asleep. I’ll be keeping my eyes open for dream symbols, hopefully achieve a reality check and take it from there. I kept telling myself to look for them upon awakening but I was just plain scared and wanted to get out of the situations I kept finding myself.
Well, I think I have successfully filled a thread on my own now with my ramblings, but I just had to write it all down and share with anyone who was interested in reading anothers experience.
