It's possible... but why would you want to? After enough sleep your REM periods are significantly longer and more vivid. WILDing without WBTB is an unwise move, IMHO.
Trying to WILD before going to sleep would be good for practice... I hate waking up at 4:30 and then failing at trying to WILD... I'd rather practice before I fall asleep...
Yeah, I edited the word fell into fall...
I wouldn't recommend it - as Gestalt said, your REM periods (and therefore your dreams) are longer after WBTB. Also, it takes a while to get into REM when you first fall asleep, first you go through other deep sleep stages. You've have to stay conscious for over an hour, through all of your deep sleep phases, just to get a short lucid dream. If you're lucky.
It is possible to have a WILD during naps.
And it is possible but very difficult to have one at the start of core sleep.
But from my experience with them the dreams aren't very long or as vivid as they could be.
The early morning lucid dreams are the best, the ones after core sleep.
