Too aggressive?
So, last night i was running from someone, and then became lucid. so, i thought to myself " start changing things". all of a sudden, everything that i was thinking was just happening! id think "im not running from anyone" then look behind me and they were gone. id pass a girl and think take your shirt off, and she did. id start giant leaping rooftop to rooftop. etc. all of these things were happening so fast and so easily but not for very long... i lost control and eventually things started fading and i woke up (though the waking process seemed to be very slow transitionally..) i only started exploring lucid dreaming a few nights ago after stumbling upon it online. so it was very exciting to have seemingly fast results. is there a way in dreaming that i can keep myself from waking and maybe not getting too excited?

Is this one of your first lucid dreams? Especially in your first few, excitement is deadly for the dream. Next time, try calming yourself as soon as you become lucid. Then proceed carefully. Pick something to do, such as flying, leaping from roof to roof, etc., and then do that. When you're done, plan something else. This should help you maintain the dream.
Also, you can try dream spinning (spinning your dream body), and rubbing your hands to try to bring the dream back once it starts fading.

Silvas, Wavefunction is correct.. excitement can end a lucid dream prematurely.
It is also true that perhaps you were simply overloading yourself with trying to do too many things at one time. When concentrating on doing too many things it's possible to lose the connection to the dream itself and it will start to fade out.

Being too aggressive makes your mind work harder and if it works to hard the brain will wake you up. Try a much more passive approach to dream control, I do and I find it more fun.

I would say don't pick something exciting to do next time, and just focus on understanding what a lucid dream feels like. Walk around, feel objects, really study people, the ground etc. to get know the feeling you can associate with a lucid dream. Basically let the dream guide you around, and just "go with the flow".
This will help you recognize and be comfortable as to what a lucid dream is like, so next time it will be easier to maintain control and prolong the dream.
