To me it sounds as if you may have been teetering on the edge of sleep paralysis.
It seems quite a few people have halted the WILD process when they get to the point of the racing heart (or other odd sensations).
If you can keep your fear at bay, knowing that any odd sensations you experience are signals that you're on your way to lucidity, you should be able to surpass that and eventually slip into a dream.
Welcome to Dream Views and good luck with you next WILD attempt.

yes but the racing heart was happening for about a minuet or so before i broke out of it how long does SP usually take?
-
Sleep paralysis starts as your body falls to sleep.
It stays until you wake up again.
It sounds as if your fear won out and you let it take control instead of you taking control.
I usually woke up in Sleep Paralysis and used that to get lucid. When I woke up in that condition I was terrified for that first split second but would calm myself and then slip into a lucid dream.
The actual 'awake during SP' episodes only lasted a few seconds. The few times I have experiences SP before sleep, it hasn't lasted long and usually was a gentle numbness that washed over me. I never experienced the racing heart pre-WILD so I don't know how long that state should or would last. You need to learn to control your fear before you can proceed further.
Maybe you should leave WILDing for a while and focus on a 'gentler' form of lucid dreams, like DILDs.

although it happened again when i tried it again but i managed to slow my heart rate down somehow? but i still failed, i think i twitched
-
Ah, yeah. Those twitches are bitches. ;)
How long do you lay there while trying to WILD?
-
im not sure? is there anyway to measure time other than a clock because looking at a clock may ruin my concentration and stillness
-
I mean do you feel lay there for hours?
I've heard of others trying to WILD for a couple of hours and that's kind of extreme, I think. If it works for them though, it works.
But in my experience, if I don't slip into a WILD within about an hour or I probably won't be getting one so I get up and plan to try again some other time.
-
i was thinking of trying a DILD but i can never seem to do reality checks while im dreaming.
But the part of the wild which scares me is the paralized part and the viabrating part, what are they like and how long do they last??
