      Very excited newbie

Burns mentioned this forum in the Doberman Talk forum we are both a member of, and I about flipped! I had no idea a forum like this existed - never even thought to look.

Dreams have been a VERY big part of my existence for about 12 years now. I had an incredibly lucid dream while napping one afternoon in '96. I dreamt of being seated on an airplane as it took off and as it plummeted to the ground to crash. I awoke, yelling, sitting up, sweating and very very disturbed. It was so incredibly real that I experienced emotions, thoughts and feelings in that dream that I would not have come up with in my own imagination - apart from a real experience.

Well, I went to work that afternoon and found out that Air Florida, flight 592 had crashed in the everglades in the EXACT 30 minutes of my nap. Small matter that 592 is the first 3 numbers of my social security number - what began to unfold was how what I saw, looking out the window (large mass of water, bridges) in the cabin (misty), the flight path (taking off in a northerly direction, turning to the left and then south - where the crash then occured) EVERYTHING was consistent. A few years back, I even went on google earth and compared the flight path to the exact location in the sky and I saw exactly what I had seen in the dream - looking out the left side of the plane just before it crashed.

Anyway, this was the beginning. All of my life, airplanes have excited me and due to my mom being a travel agent since I was two, I have flown literally hundreds of times between family members, friends and for my job. It is no small wonder that jet planes have become symbols in my dreams and after the first terror I experienced, I have had many many more airplane type dreams. What has happened is that these dreams happen about 6 months to a year prior to something significant in my life. They are premonitions of incredible accuracy using symbols, metaphors and sometimes funny comparisons. I have come to recognize that the dreams are not meant to tell me of the future but rather to give meaning to the events when they occur; they are some kind of before-the-fact confirmation that when this happens, it is important.

I am almost always in the dark about what the dream is pointing towards but acutely aware when the dream happens, that it means something. They have a character all their own that I instantly recognize. Sometimes as the event itself starts to happen, I see whats going on...other times it is after the event that I see the dream connection - and it is usually these post-event realizations that are the most profound and mind blowing. It is thru these events that I have become a firm believer in spirituality, higher realms/dimensions, collective consciousness, etc etc. I could write a small book chronicling my dreams and the related events but I feel blessed just in the experiences themselves and how they teach me in so many ways. It strengthens my faith in God, truth, goodness and most of all, love. It has shown me that I am not on some random path and that a higher hand/purpose is involved. These are the functions and purpose of my dreams and I am thankful for them.

I look forward to learning, sharing and growing within this group.

Welcome to DV, avalonadon! Thanks for sharing your experiences here, as I found them facinating! You brought up an interesting point:

I have come to recognize that the dreams are not meant to tell me of the future but rather to give meaning to the events when they occur; they are some kind of before-the-fact confirmation that when this happens, it is important.
I've had that happen once or twice, though never on such a scale as you experienced. I look forward to hearing further accounts from you and your dream journal

Welcome to the forum! I'm so glad you registered! There's at least one other DT member here, Vivedream (dobesandragons). Dobes and dreaming unite

That airplane incident is very unnerving... I can see how that would make a huge impact in your life.

Take some time and peruse the forum - it's quite large as you have probably already discovered See you around!

      Thanks Burns!

I think the crash was meant to show me to watch my dreams from then on...that they were more than "just dreams". I dont think I would have paid much attention otherwise. It was meant as a "wake up" for me spiritually.
