No I don't think so, I actually think it could help, the more it is on your mind, the more likely you could be to think about it in dreams.
I agree. The things we think about the most in real life have a way of showing up in our dreams.
It is almost documented that thinking more about it makes it more likely, in fact its one of the best things you can do to improve lucidity regularity.
I've found that the periods in my life when I was really into lucid dreaming were the times when I was having the most lucid dreams (2 per week at the peak). In contrast, during the periods where I was not-so-much into dreams and didn't even use my dream journal, I had much fewer lucids; although I still had them from time to time, it was more like once every 6 weeks or so.
Agreed, a few summers ago I was much more into lucid dreaming than I was until I recently got back into it. I found that even if I didn't have a lucid dream they would still be much more vivid than usual. I think the key with it is the same as with anything else, just try not to over analyze or stress out too much about it. The last thing you want to end up happening is to develop some performance anxiety over the issue.
I disagree with my fellow Dream Guides. Thinking about lucid dreaming too much means that you're stressing out about it and that causes a drop in lucid dreams.
The two lucid dreams I've ever had were ones that I dreamt about the actual topic of lucid dreaming, so I think it does help if you think about lucid dreaming a lot, especially during WBTB or before going to bed. The first LD I had was one where I was writing in my dream journal, and the second was when I was reading a dream views thread.
Who said anything about stressing out about it? Just because you think about something a lot doesn't mean you are stressing about it.
Just having lucid dreaming on your mind is a great way to induce lucid dreams. If you read the original post the question is about thinking about lucid dreaming, not about not being able to lucid dream and stressing over it...
I envy you. Thinking about LDing can help you LD so much more often, I wish I could. I usually forget all about it exept when I'm driving. Since you think about it, do RCs every time you do. (Unless your a doctor or somthing and can't.)
And if your stressing, like some people suggested, lighten up. LDing is easy; doing it often or for long amounts of time: not so much. You'll get the hang of it.
I'd say it helps, because a while ago, I LD'd when I was obcessing =p.
It depends on what aspect your thinking about. If it's about creating a new method to lucid dream then it will help. But if it's about fantasizing what you would do when your lucid then it will hinder your chances of becoming lucid because the mind will be tired by the time you go to sleep at night.

I think it depends on if you obsess over it.
There are poeple here who have put a lot of thought and work into trying to lucid dream, only to discover that once they took a break from obsessing they finally got a lucid dream.
nah. it's okay to think about it too much, just not in a frustrated, stressed, or desperate way. It's good if it's on your mind but if all you're thinking is "oh man! I want one so bad! why can't I have one!!" it's not going to happen.
Yes, like Adam mentioned on the first reply, it can actually help. But in my opinion, try not to get excited over the feeling. Expecting to dream will most certainly get you into lucidity, but make sure your body doesn't react and start shaking or sweating or anything similir, even your heart beating can stop you from feeling relaxed. And relaxation is key.
