The tutorials will cover that. However, I believe it's basically anything that proves that you're awake. For instance, a common one is to check your hands, if they are deformed or different in any way, you know you're asleep. Also, reading text, looking away, then reading it again to check for differences works. I'm new here too, welcome to Dream Views! I've really enjoyed my two days so far as a member.
There are numerous ways to do reality checks. I find the best is the memory one. Try and retrace your steps from the last few hours, if you have gaps in memory then you must be dreaming. There is a page about reality checks DV's home page.
:welcome:
Thanks, I'll check those out :]

i don't normally do reality checks anymore, but I used to write a word on my hand. A different word every day and then look at it like a million times during the day. Supposedly when you're dreaming you might look at it and see that its a word you didn't write on your hand, then you'll realize you're dreaming. I stopped doing it because I never looked at my hands in a dream. I also do a nose RC but i usually only do it while i'm in my bed, i plug my nose and if i can still breathe through it, it means i'm dreaming.
after typing this i really think i should start doing reality checks again
Welcome to dreamviews caly
If you want any extra questions answered just ask.
The reality check that works most for me is the one were you pinch your nose and breath through. If air still goes though your nose your dreaming. All the other ones I tried so far failed at least once.
Good luck and enjoy your stay:D
Hey Rachel! :D
You want to have more lucid eh? Well, take a look here - Click
That's the tutorial section where you can find out all the magical things about Lucid Dreaming. But to start you off, let me give you some information from my own keyboard:
Right, first what you'll want to do, is build up your Dream Recall so you will remember more dreams you have. The more dreams you have, the more easier it is to go to your mate and go "Well this happened in my dream, and I did this....". Basically, you will remember your dreams easier and they will seem longer, but do this the most comfortable way you feel. If you're lazy, a comfortable way of success is to write keywords down so you will either remember your dream when you look at the words, or just simply be forced into remembering.
When you're good at that, there's a section for typing up your dreams, which can be found here - Click
Back into Lucid Dreaming. Another important task for you would be to use Reality Checking, this is done by doing certain actions that will automatically tell you whether you're dreaming or not. For example, you're in a dream and you see something weird, you don't know whether you're in a dream or not so you look at your hands. Do they look different or abnormal in a strange way? If so, then you're dreaming and you are now lucid. There are many Reality Checks you can do that will surely help you on this little task, a list of these can be found here - Click
These are just some of the basic skills recommended for Lucid Dreaming, but those two are all that is necessery untill you decide to go a bit advanced. Then you might want to look at some of the more longer techniques like WILD, VILD and HILD.
If you would like to know how to induce your dreams from being awake, I recommend trying this cute little method - Click
Welcome to Dream Views, you seem to have a nice attitude on things, I hope you enjoy it here. :)
Jdeadevil,
Thanks for all of that! :]
I've tried to start doing reality checks before, but I kept forgetting about them throughout the day. I just wrote a word on my hand, and looked at it. But I actually ended up only looking at it maybe once every 2 days. If I even remembered to write on my hand in the first place. So, I kind of needed a new thing to try.
Thanks again :]

No problem. :)
It's a matter of practice remembering to look at your hands (because it's your Reality Check). I mean, I just try and remember to ask my self whether I'm dreaming or not and look at my hands, but sometimes I only manage to do it about five times a day.
Hey! It's my first day here too.
Last night was the first time I properly had a lucid dream, (and I had three of them, albeit not very long ones.) I believe the method I attainted a lucidic state was called, "WILD" or something. I just kinda felt myself drifting off to sleep and bang the dream started.
I think I only slept for about 2 hours last night but I felt very refreshed, which is un-normal for me as I like to sleep forever.
The dreams themselves were really fun! I tried going back to sleep numerous time but as soon as I felt myself drifting off, I woke up as I think I was concentrating too much. I'll try again tonight.
Anyways, hello! I'm new.
Hello, somme :D
I use to have lucid dreams all the time. But I couldn't make myself do it. It just kind of...happened. I want to have more of them, 'cause I think they're really fun.
I had this recurring dream symbol, and it was my worst fear. So, I hated having dreams about it. And I have a friend (or she calls me her "dream buddy") and we help each other figure out what our dreams mean, and she was telling me that the next time I have a lucid dream with that symbol, I have to ask it what it means. So, when I was lucid I asked what it ment, and what it represented, but I didn't really get a straight simple answer, and I was hoping that I could maybe try again by making myself lucid, and when that symbol shows up, I can try again.
Also...is it harder to become lucid, or do you have less lucid dreams when you are more stressed out in real life?
