Hello everyone!
I decided to join here after having a lucid experience.
My post about it is here: http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ad.php?t=57132
What made this lucid experience different from my previous ones was that every time up until now, when I realized that I was dreaming I would wake up. Also previously the dream was too short, and I could not "do" anything.
This time I could do things, and I even tried to wake up but couldn't - for a while.
Well, I'm short on time right now (need to go to work), but will be reading a lot more from this site, and then trying to go lucid on purpose.
Greetings to you all :D

Hi Mr Speedy, and welcome to the forum! Congratulations on your first extended Lucid! Even though you wanted to wake up, lol.
I don't have any experience really with trying to force myself awake. I always want to stay in it. But being Lucid is a great way to face scary situations in dreams. Just remember that nothing at all can harm you. your safe in your bed!
Sometimes Lucids can end to soon do to either to much excitement, or the dream just ending naturally before you get the chance to do anything.Or in my case, sometimes Just thinking about waking up makes it happen.
There are methods you can try to help extend the dream, like spinning, rubbing hands together, or touching things. Some people say that just looking at your hands will keep you in the dream. Though I have not ever tried that one myself, yet.
If you have any questions let me know. I'm always willing to help in any way I can.

:welcome:
It's not uncommon to wake up when you realize that your dreaming. You brain doesn't know what to make of it because it's never been in the situation before so it panics. It tries to figure out what happened and to do that it needs the logical part of the brain to turn on, that wakes you up.
After a few of these quick awakenings your brain should be conditioned to transitioning from regular dreaming to lucid dreaming and realize it without having to turn on your logic centre.
Even though you just had a long one, don't get frustrated if your next one is short to. The first couple will have random lengths, after a few more you should have stable long lucid dreams.
