New here. Here's the why.

Hello.

Five months ago I made it my goal to be able to lucid dream, to put it quite frankly.

It started with dream journals. At first it was hard remembering my dreams but after writing my dreams down as soon as I woke up remembering them became an easier and easier task until I could describe even the most minute details.

I began having dreams that were more vivid, but was unable to tell myself that I was dreaming in my dream, let alone control it. I'd done some research into ways to bring on lucid dreaming, so I started telling myself that I was conscious during the day, started trying to become more aware of my goal, and also did lots of meditation..

Am still doing.

Anyhow... I first became lucid about a month ago and ever since I've had the most surreal, unexplainable experiences... I have reoccuring lucid dreams, not where the same things happen, but where I meet the same people that take me places. I'll probably end up posting more at length on the actual lucid dreams I've had....

Anyway, I just am really looking forward to being able to talk to other people about lucid dreaming... Also, I've been having trouble lately with getting "stuck." It's like I know I'm dreaming and I'll have full control of myself and my dream, but I'll get stuck somewhere, my position frozen. It's like I am just stuck watching my dream go by without me while I'm fully aware of being asleep.

Hey, and welcome to DV! :D Looks like you have come a long way already, which is great. I know I and other would love to hear more about your lucid experiences. It might help a lot of other people who are trying to achieve lucidity.

I'm not sure what to tell you about the experiences with being stuck. However, there is one thing I've learned when it comes to losing control in lucid dreams (both my own experience and reading others') is that the more frustrated you get, the harder it is to gain control.

:welcome: to DV, interesting that you keep getting stuck. I think I had a hard time moving in my first couple lucid dreams. It's just a mental block. Try small, move your arms a little bit, then move your legs in place, after that you should be able to walk.

Hi Chloe, it is possible you're actually awaking when this happens - it sounds like sleep paralysis. You're conscious enough not only to be aware of the dream, but you're actually able to feel your waking body. Just like your mind will incorporate external sounds into your dreams, so can it incorporate sensations.

You're feeling the paralysis and your carrying that feeling back into your dream. My advice would be to try to visualize yourself doing something that doesn't require physical effort in the dream. Imagine yourself simply floating up into the air, or floating in water. You'll eventually convince yourself that your "free" and fall back deeper into the dream-state in which you'll lose the sensitivity of your waking body. The more you focus on something in the dream, the more you'll pull away from the external world.

Hey - thank you so much for your replies. I've never thought about just letting myself float away or something instead of trying to physically move - that's an amazing idea that I'm going to try. I can almost feel like it will work even though I haven't tried it yet.

And yes, the avatar is dali - I love dali. I want to live in his brain.
