Do YOU have trouble with recall?

Hey everybody. I'm new to LDing, and I had some advice for people who have trouble remembering their dreams.

If you don't remember your dreams, be patient. Sometimes, a certain word you hear or an object you see will totally bring back that dream. They act as triggers to your mind.

For example, this morning I woke up not remembering any of my dreams. I sat there still, hoping to get something. Yet, I didn't remember a thing.

So I got up and walked to my bathroom to pee. The moment I saw the toilet, I remembered that my dream last night was in a bathroom.

This might be random, but I hope it helps you. :lol:

Oh yeah, sure - random things might often remind us something.

A bit similarly to you, on several occasions I have been doing something seemingly irrelevant - like washing the dishes, for example - and then suddenly I've remembered a dream from months or even years back. And the things I might be doing and the dreams themselves don't seem to share any connection at all.

Anyways -I might sound like a broken record, but me sure to keep a dream journal. There is no better way to enhance dream recall. It's very effective, but yes, it also takes time and patience. What's more, the entries, while tedious to write, will be pretty fun to read after a few months/years.

my recall is never consistent. Some nights I'll remember 2 or 3 dreams in full detail, down to every last bit of dialogue, and then some nights I wake up and there's no chance whatsoever of me remembering the dream. Even triggers dont seem to help. Things like that will remind me that it may have had something to do with the dream, but that's about it. It's just lost forever :(

thanks for the suggestion =) I'm really having problems recalling. I just don't know why I can't remember my dreams. But I've experience with Lucid Dreams before though =) and those are the dreams which I usually remember more often.

My recall imporoved in about a week or two after consistantly taking notes in my dream journal. Autosuggestion is also extremely powerful to help recall. Try telling yourself that you will remember all your dreams in the morning, or tell yourself to wake up after every dream and write something down. I rarely even write down full accounts of my dreams, but keywords that suddenly flood me with the memory of my dream.

Yup, your exactly right. I've actually gotten into the habit of carrying around a piece of paper and pen with me. In case something I see, hear, or even just think about, triggers any dreams. Then I just jot down a few notes to make sure I don't forget. It happened to me a few times today actually.

When something triggers a dream later during the day I quietly recite out loud what I can recall of it, only if it's a fragment.

Good thing I'm usually alone when I remember a lost dream. I don't think that muttering about flying tortosies in pink tutus would go over too well if others were around to hear me.

haha I can imagine someone beside me saying "ah yes, and that flying tortoise~" I would really freak out..and go "okaayyy..." :shock:

hmm I'm really bad at remembering my dreams, for example, I was sleeping in the library today, for around 15 minutes, and I had a dream. When I woke up, I totally forgot everything I dreamt about. I tried so hard to recall, and all I got was a name. thats all =/ is that normal for a beginner like me? Practice makes perfect right =( please say yes. hahaha :P

Practice does do wonders for dream recall. If you recall a name or a frament , jot it down in a journal. Everytime you remember and record any bit of a dream you're conditioning your body a little at a time to pump up your dream recall.

yeah I only had 2 hours of sleep yesterday =P and law exams in like about an hour. So I need some rest or I might pretty much sleep in the exam hall. haha. you've never sleep in the library before? OhGod, you're missing out so much in life!! Do it in one of your dreams =) its really nice.

Was suppose to be studying, but got really sleepy all of a sudden. Library is a great place to take naps =D its really nice. Its so quiet and there's free air conditioner :D Ain't I a great example to all you people out there :P

Thanks! I'll do that =) I've been writing down every dream that I can remember everynight. Well, so far I've only jolted down 2 entries in my Dream Journal =) cause that's all I can remember. thats the first 2 nights after knowing about Lucid Dreams. Can't wait to be able to remember every single dream I'm about to have in the future =) thanks! :)
