Hi everyone.
I am new here today I came accross this site whilst surfing the net for information on what I thought was a sleep dissorder that I have had for as long as I can remember, and that's a long time because I am nearly 35!
I don't know much on the subject other than that I thought I was going mad because my sleeping experiences are getting worse and quiet scary and would like any advice at all if poss if any of you have experienced anything like what I do.
All my sleeping life I have had the ability to control my dreams and just by reading this forum tonight I have realised this has a name! At least I am not the only one...strangely makes me feel better knowing I am not alone LOL.
Every night whilst dreaming I become aware that I am dreaming. Sometimes I can control the dream and sometimes not, but I am still aware that I am dreaming. Some dreams are normal and nothing strange like just going about my normal activities yet others are really weird and wacky and some terrifying. And it is the terrifying ones that I am having reoccurant problems with that are getting worse and I do not know what it is.
Basically I fall asleep really easily always have done. Just as soon as I fall asleep I am aware I am dreaming and become paralysed. I hear really loud buzzing sounds and hyper sensitivity to all the senses. Then I start to see a sequence of events. They are usualy doom and gloom. The strange thing is that within 2 days of these types of dreams the dreams actually become real. They are like premonitions that always come true if the dream starts with the buzzing and paralysis. Now I am a sceptic and do not believe in paranormal and physic stuff but just can't explain these coincidences. I usually see the front page of newspapers with the pictures of something or someone and the headline, and give or take a few slight discrepancies they come true.
Other types of my weird state of dreams that are rteally freaking me out are that I wake whilst the dream still continues and am paralysed. I can stil har sounds and smells but no sight of what is going on. So it is like I am in bed with my eyes open and everything looks normal but I can feel and hear the dream in my bedroom all around me. For about 30 sconds I can't move or make a sound. This gradually wears off to a point I can shout to my husband to wake me up. As soon as he shakes me awake all of the sensations dissapear and I go back to sleep. This happens almost every night lately.
It is really scaring me and I have never heard of this happening to anyone else. My husband gets freaked out by it sometimes because it is just so surreal.
My question is: am I going mad or does this happen to anyone else and what can I do to make it go away.
One other experience happened when I was a teenager. I was asleep dreaming when I felt I had come out of my body (again I don't believe I really came out of my body). I look down and see myself sleeping. I get scared because it seemed too real, then I floated extremely fast (facing downward) through the cieling and into space loking down at the earth on the light side. I get scared and will myself back. Just as I am slowing down above my street I see a red car and take note of the 1st few digits of the number plate. I jolt back into my body and wake up gasping and in total fear. The next morning I was on my way to work and saw for real the red car, and the first few digs of the plate are the same as my dream.
