Autosuggestion, it's very effective; for me at least...
Best way before bed is to run the RC routine that you intend to do or did during the day in your head. Basically get familiar with your RC routine, the simpler the routine the better. The best routine for me is to do an RC whenever a light that I use blows or acts funny. Simple as that!

Auto suggestion works well for DILDs.

LOL...everytime you sneeze, that's funny, but seriously I think it can work for me although I don't sneeze in dreams I can induce a sneezing dream..:D:D. But to be honest I have run out of fresh ideas to RC. And I think you know by now, if an idea to RC gets stale = No LDs. It would be no different then turning on your PC every morning.

There's not really a best way to become lucid. Different techniques work for different people. You might want to have a look at the tutorials or the Attaining Lucidity forum to find a technique that suits you.
