Yes. Picture it like this. If you start counting while awake, you will not miss a number even when you enter the dream. You maintain "consciousness" as you fall asleep.
thanks. i have another question as well. why is it easier to WILD in the morning (WBTB) or in the afternoon? I tried it last night and didn't have any success. i felt the beginnings of SP (waves, vibrations, heaviness), but never entered it fully. why was this?

You want to be close to a REM cycle when you WILD. That way, you can start dreaming as soon as you fall asleep. Your REM cycles get longer and closer together towards the end of the night / early morning. Similarly, during afternoon naps, you normally start dreaming right away. It is hard to WILD when first going to bed, because you will generally not have a dream cycle for an hour or two.
