If youre keeping a dream journal, then its only a matter of time before you have a DILD. You should start doing regular RCs too, it helps greatly, but I have had a few Dilds well before I knew of lucid dreaming and reality checks. Be aware that the first time you become lucid, youre almost guaranteed to get too excited and snap out of it. Theres not much you can do except try and hold onto it for as long as you can. You just have to keep trying.
yes. thank you. I'll try to keep up the RC's.
If you want to have DILDs I recomend keeping a DJ, doing RCs, and using autosuggestion.
With the DJ read over past dreams frequently. When you read it try to re-live the dreams as much as possible. Feel the feelings and sensations, rememeber the thoughts, sights, sounds, etc. This will help your conscious (lucid) mind get used to the way dreams feel. That way you will be more likely to become lucid in a dream.
Using RCs is fairly obvious -- doing them often in waking life will make a habit -- which will eventually carry over to your dreaming life. A really good RC is to frequently stop and ask your self how you got where you are, and to see if you have any gaps in memory or can't explain what you are doing or where you are. You have to stay focused as you do this -- don't just hurry through the process. You should have clear explanations. Sure, in dreams it is easy to find explanations for illogical things, but if you put real effort into it you will be more likely to catch any illogical dream stuff.
Autosuggestion is a VERY powerful technique that can have a lot of uses for the lucid dreamer. To get DILDs using it come up with a short sentence or phrase that to you sums up your desire to DILD. When I first starte incubating DILDs my phrase was "Say I'm dreaming." Another good one is "I will know I'm dreaming." Whatever your mantra, repeat it a LOT. I suggest repeating it everytime, the whole time you go to the bathroom, when you are getting ready for bed, when you have any "down time" (such as waiting in line, riding in a car, anytime you don't have anything else you have to think about). I also recomend repeating it for about five minutes as you lay in bed.
I am really good at DILD. In the past 200 days or so I've had over 450 DILDs. If you want any more advice about DILD, feel free to ask or PM me.
I Dont have much experience but usualy saying something before you do a reality check like "am i dreaming" and then before you go to bed repeat this alot
