Hello there all
Yet another n00b into the net, this seems the most appropriate place to post an introduction, so here goes. I have been awear of Lucid Dreaming for some time (from a random totse post years and years ago), and when in my teens kept a dream journal for some time, but in retrospect my entire approach was skewed, and I failed to keep it up. Though I did have one brief experiance this Christmas randomly (probibly due in part to the rather extreme mindset I was in at the time due to a very bad relational break down
But my desire to awake in my dreams never abbated. And now is the perfect time to reapproach it in a more mature manner. For a start, I have just finished a Philosophy BA, and have little to do in the next six months other than work (to save money to finally take that gap year/language course) and go to the gym. But mainly, I have recently decided to stop smoking pot, which really has cut back on my dream recall, which used to be very rich, over the last few years. I was, and i suppose will always be, an extreme pot HEAD, like to the smoking before exams and typing dissertations level, but I really feel the time has come to grow up and out of that. It also stopped me from getting what I really want, which is Lucidity
So, hopefully I'll be active on these forums and active in my dreams, and the two will complement each other. Dream views is the preeminant Lucidity resource on the net, and i'm starting this membership and new stage of life with a lot more confidence than I might otherwise have had.
Hope I sometimes say something interesting:D

:welcome: JDA! You've come to the right place to learn about lucid dreaming. Spend some time checking out all we have to offer here, you'll find all kinds of information.
You're right, pot does trash dream recall. If you are serious about LDing, you shouldn't smoke much or often, or not at all. You don't want to waste your effort to get lucid, only to forget about it!
Dream recall is one of the most important aspects of gaining lucidity. I recomend checking out the tutorial on it here:

As always, feel free to ask any questions you may have. If you want extra help PM me or any member of the staff.

Welcome JDA
Sounds like you are in a great place to spend some time digging into your dreams. You're making me want to take some time off for a dreaming sabbatical. I think lucid dreaming is a way better high than pot anyways, so I'm sure you won't be missing it much. Not to mention it being free ;)
Have you already checked out the Dream Journal section? You can start posting dreams there to keep track of things, and share your progress.

Welcome...I too am new to this site. I've been known to enjoy "the herb" from time to time, and from what little I've picked up here, this behavior seems to detract from becoming lucid, so I too am not partaking. I had frequent lucid dreams as a child, and have recently begun to actively seek lucidity. I had my first LD since childhood a few nights ago, after practicing frequent reality checks for about a month, as well as doing some self hypnosis to encourage lucidity. It was well worth the investment in time, as my experience of lucidity has stayed with me for three days now. Good luck. I wish you success (as I wish myself success!)

You can use weed indirectly to become lucid. It will hold back your REM sleep and increase your restorative deep sleep. Thats why you may feel really well rested the next day.
After smoking for a few days suddenly stop smoking. You will have built up alot of REM sleep. You body will compensate for the overload of deep delta sleep which you'll already have gotten, and you'll get a full night of REM with a GREAT chance of 1 or more lucids!

Oh tell me about it. try this:
smoke everyday for three years
stop
wait a week for the tremmers to pass
bam! 4-5 dreams a night, detailed, with me waking up automatically through out the night and scribbling notes. it's been sooooo long, its so good to have this part of my life back.
Thanks to all who posted. things are going well, since I've been recording dreams I've been somewhat dissmayed to see how often an ex girlfriend is cropping up in them. Bitch hurt me more than anything else, but now that I don't see her anymore, she's given me a fine dreamsign:D

Hah, enjoying le herb.
Well, good luck to you. Do you know, if you had a dream which featured me, you would be shown the image that you have already generated of me based on your experiences of people so far. I wonder how close that image would be to the truth.

Good luck, man. Its a good little community here, and most enjoyable. Stopping smoking weed definitely can have an affect.

I know, it's been years since I was active on a BBS/Forum, and I'm getting so excited reading the expereiances and questions from the more advanced Dreamers.
Can't wait till my mind unlocks and I can contribute a little.
heh, someone said this on another forum I read (dont think it was here if I'm ripping you off I apologise): Weed is a great teacher. But some of us are bad students
