Strange thing happening to me before I drift off

:o For the past few months, I have been having the strangest thing happen to me before I fall asleep. I am lying there in my comfortable position and I feel myself ready to drift off. Then all of the sudden, I feel as though something or someone has hit me in the head with a sledge hammer. It doesn't hurt. I just feel the impact and it jolts me up and scares me pretty bad. Sometimes it will happen several times in one night before I fall asleep. I have no idea what is happening to me. Somebody please help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It sounds like sleep paralysis. Its when your body shuts down for sleep. it happens to everyone everynight. Its perfectly normal. If you waited longer, then you would start to dream and go to sleep.

Yep it is normal, but it varies from person to person.
Eg. I have falling, spinning feelings and sometimes little shocks (if its been a tough day)

If you have really annoying ones that prevent you from sleeping, then maybe someone else has more advice? (Mine aren't normally a problem)

it sounds like you are over tired and its your body's way of making sure you dont go in too much a deep sleep too soon, :? :) but dont worry u will be fine! i got that 12 times in one night before! i was really worried! ( i was about twelve!!)

they are right but i think next time you should scream at the top of your lungs "dont do that" and the little green men should leave.

I also have this feeling sometimes. Often when I'm drifting to sleep I feel this feeling like a huge steel slab has been dropped on my head and I have this vibration and not loud but "powerful" sound. I have a quick jolt and just feel this powerful vibration through my body... it's probably the same thing as yours but my subconcious makes it like the steel slab...
