How's it goin' everyone?
I'm new to LDing. I recently watched the film 'Waking Life' (if you've not seen it, please pick it up if you get a chance, it is one awesome film and will interest Lucid Dreamers) and it basically got me intrested.
After a little research into LD's I decided to drill habits in to my head during waking in an attempt to achieve lucidity (flicking lights on and off, looking digital alarm clock). Well on my second nights sleep following this I flicked a light switch, the light didn't change. I became lucid and went for a lil walk and a lil float haha.
Didn't last long (felt around 2-3 mins long or so) but I got a good feel out of the experience and have now dismissed any sceptical thoughts I previously had about LDing.
Anyway I've manged to achieve this state on 4 occasions now, one of which was followed by sleep paralysis (which did infact make my heart beat pretty quickly after waking up, just like someone on here previously mentioned, so that kinda scared me).
Well needless to say I'm really interested in exploring this whole world some more and sharing stories etc. Longest LD I've had seemed to be around 5 mins and I haven't done a whole lot whilst in them so I now want to try prolonging them (spinning, looking at hands etc) if I can.
Having the complete conciousness and knowing that I'm dreaming perhaps gets me too excited and I think that's why I wake up fairly quickly. How long do most people's LDs last on average?
I also found it interesting that I read most people record their dreams at first before they can achieve lucidity but I haven't done this at all. I have made more of an effort to remember my dreams and, as previously mentioned, attempted to drill habits in whilst in waking but apart from that, nothing. Seems to be working out for me.
Lenghty intro, I am sorry :P
