Very tough question.

Hello, everyone.

I have a Question for you guys, My family suffers from a very strange biological brain factor.

Basically it effects some and dosent effect others in my family.

And lucky me.... i have it, but anyway what it is is Reading memory, when i read i cannot remember what i just read. its very strange but what I'm asking is dream related, I also cannot remember my dream's ( If i even have any )
The people who are effected in my family all have this same problem its almost like we don't dream at all,

Basically i am wondering if you guys have any ideas, Would be greatfull

If i really can dream and i cant remember it then my "dream recall" is at 0% how do you work up from that ;/

(Has Everyone got the ability to Dream? or maybe... i'm just .. different.)

There are a few watys to raise your dream recall, as people on here will tell you, however the most basic is to keep a book and a pen by your bed, and as soon as you wake up try and write down everything you remember. If you find you cant remember anything, try waking up in the middle of the night (set an alarm) and try it then.

Other than that, read some of the 'WILD' techniques in the tutorials and try some. Just thinking about lucid dreaming and dreaming in general will get your subconsciouss active in focusing on it as well.

Yeah, i'm trying RC's Right now, if these techniques help me out i will be very greatfull for all you guys, you have no idea ^^

There are only a few people who cannot dream (due to damage to the parietal lobe of the brain), however there are many people who just can't remember any of their dreams. Since this brain condition you have primarily affects memory, it would make sense that you just can't remember your dreams.

As for how to fix this, Swank covered all the best methods. Just be determined to remember your dreams, focus on remembering anything you can as soon as you wake up. If necessary, set alarms to go off in the middle of the night in an effort to wake yourself up in the middle of a dream so you have no time to forget it, and immediately write down anything you remember.

hmmm, I cant see how reading memory would be related? have you EVER recalled dreams?

I dont know enough about brain function. Anyway...your most important habits should be

a) get between 7-8 hours sleep
b) keep consistant bedtimes
c) try to keep stress low, (stupid thing to say, I know)

d) write down ANYTHING you can remember. an image. a word...even maybe just what you were thinking about when you woke up

and yes...alarms around with 5-6 hour sleep mark will probably interrupt a dream..an hopefully allow you to remember them so you could try that if all else fails

My memory sucks in real life but it's pretty good in dream recall...so maybe dreaming memory has nothing to do with waking memory ability.

Improving DR is just like studying for an exam, keep at it, or you'll stuff it up. I have a natural ability to remember 3-4 dreams a night, but I need to start writing them down because it is only the really meaningful ones that I remember.
