Am I making progress?
The night before last I did an RC in my dream, and found that I was dreaming, but I don't think the significance of that really hit me. Either last night or early this morning, I was trying to induce a WILD. I was lying there for a really long time, and I pinched my nose. I could still breathe through it. "Oh neat, I'm asleep" I thought. Still though, all I did was sit there and wait for the dream to hit me. After a while I think I lost my lucidity, because I remember at least two dreams from that night. I think that all I would've had to do is open my eyes, and I would've been in a dream, right? Do you guys think I am making progress? Sorry the post is so long.

Yes, you're making great progress. You've already had some lucid dreams (remember, a lucid dream is just a dream where you're aware that you're dreaming) Your main flaw, though, is your dream control. To make the reality check work better, you should firmly and calmly state that you are dreaming (like Hey! My hand has to many/few fingers! I must be dreaming...) Then you're more likely to gain dream control.
And another important tip: Once you tell yourself you're dreaming, keep doing it! Repeat it to yourself every few seconds. (you'd be surprised how fast lucidity can slip from you)
Good luck with those lucids! :D

Okay, that's good to know. Thanks, I think I'll try again tonight.

Congratulations, you found a few more ways not to lucid dream. Edison once said that he never failed in attempting to build a lightbulb, he just invented 1000 things that weren't lightbulbs.
Each time you come close to a good lucid dream like that you will know about it next time you get there and not make the same mistake.
