Yay, my first DILD
Well, hey there,
As this is my first post, I might as well start off with some personal info.
I'm 16 years old, and live in the Netherlands (So my english won't be that good).
Almost 2 weeks ago I read about lucid dreaming on another forum, and I decided to conduct some research because it looked very interesting.
I don't remember having a lucid dream naturally ever before. I had a few dreams in which I could control what I did, and a few nightmares I woke myself up on because I realized I was dreaming and I actually had the ability to wake up.
After a quick search I found this site, and I until now it has helped me a great deal :)
At first I thought I had no dreamrecall at all, but after reading about natural awakenings, I realized I have about 2-5 of them every night. Next time I woke up, I didnt just turn around and fall asleep again, I decided to think.
And guess what, I could perfectly recall my last dream :D (Now I remember about 1-4 dreams a night). At this moment Im just keeping a dreamjournal, but I'm planning to test out some techniques like VILD, DEILD, FILD etc. as they seem suiting with my natural awakenings.
Anyways , last night I finnally had my first DILD.
It was quite a weird dream.
My brother, parents and me were staying at a hotel in the USA.
My brother and me were in the pool, but everyone including us left when they turned on the lights in that pool =/. When I walked back to the room I saw my parents being interviewed by some celebrity...
When we finnally got back to the hotelroom, some guy from my primary school walked in and started talking to me about bands and music (at this point I still was not lucid :p)
Finally when he first said "I like _____ the most", and he repeated this sentence 20 seconds later with another band on the ____ I realized this might be a dream.
I looked at my hand, and it had six fingers .
Quite awkward how such a small thing put me off.
I started to feel really exited, so closed my eyes, trying to calm down a bit.
When I opened them again I was in an unknown bedroom.
I first looked at my hands again, pondering how my brain had come up with those 6 fingers, as they looked damn natural.
I also did the nose-pinch RC just to be sure, and luckely enough I could quite easily breath.
After that I walked towards the open window. First everything outside was a bit blurry, so I decided to rub my hands, and grab the windowsil right after.
It felt so real, unbelievable. Upon looking out of the window I saw an ordenairy street, with childeren playing, and I even noticed a guy washing his car xD.
It was all so realistic, the only difference from the waking world would be the illegal licenceplates of the cars in the street (Something like "n-n").
I decided to go down to the street.
I can't remember how I got there, maybe I forgot, maybe I sorta teleported.
Anyways, when I got down next to the road, I stuck my finger through my palm, and tried to show it too the kids that were playing. (To test their reactions :p)
They didnt seem to notice/hear me, so I gave up. I decided I should try some flying, but that wouldn't really work.
My next idea was to go back upstairs and jump out of the window, thinking that might help
When I got back inside, the first floor turned out to be some kind of bar/restaurant. For a while I considered to just sit there, buy a drink, observing what would happen, but my urge to fly turned out to be stronger.
Getting back upstairs, the unfamiliar bedroom had changed to my brothers bedroom! Though now there were 2 beds in there, and one of em had a name written above it. Out of the blue an old woman entered the room, and she started getting quite hostile towards me (Waving with a stick etc.)
I decided to give flying another go, and jumped out of the window. It didnt turn out quite that well, as I ended up flying a few metres forward, and making a beautifull (not very painfull) faceplant in the pastures next to our house.
When I looked up another old woman (I blame the appearence of those two on me visiting my granny that afternoon) was walking down the street with some weird cleaning device.
I asked her why and what she was carrying. After this I can't actually remember anything, I guess the dream ended, and I went back to normal sleep.
I didn't wake up until I had another dream, so in the end the lucid dream was still very vivid (due to how much it had impressed me) but not as vivid as it would have been if I had woken right after it.
Better next time, though it still was an amazing experience :boogie:
*Sorry for the long text, Im just kinda exited *

:welcome: hey congrats on your first thats quite a long one for a first but i understand your excitement:)

Congratulations and :welcome: to DV More to come I'm sure. You can start a dream journal and post your lucid dreams there.
-
That first intended lengthy lucid dream is always a mind blower. Congrats and hope you have many more.

nice first lucid ! mine sucked :(
-
Congratulations!!!
It was very impressive that you remembered to do the techniques you read about on the site whilst in the LD, you must have been very lucid. I only remembered (was only lucid enough) to do some of the techniques whilst in my fifth LD.

From the Netherlands, are you? My grandmother on my dad's side is too!
Anyways, welcome to DVs! Thats a really good LD to have for your first time, but I noticed that you didnt mention anything about trying WILDs; thats a very good technique to do from time to time. But if you're having success w/ you're regular techniques, then more power to you. I just thought that I should suggest trying that if those techniques weren't working out for you.:)

Thanks for all the welcomes and kind replies. :)
I myself was kinda impressed by how long I managed to stay lucid.
I expected to immedialty wake up, or immedialty loose lucidity.
My next target would still be flying though =p
Actually I have tried WILD'ing twice until now, by concentrating on my breathing .
Both times in the mornings after waking up from about 6-8 hours of sleep (bit long maybe.)
Sadly enough both attemps got disturbed after 30-45 minutes.
The first time, I came to a point where I couldn't feel my body at all, followed by the sensation of sinking into my bed. But my brother went to the toilet in the bathroom next to my room, which woke me up.
The second time I got a little further. Again I got the same sensation of numbness, and sinking into the bed. After that, my breath felt restrained (Like a pressure on my chest) and I started to sorta float (at least, thats what it felt like) moving slightly from the left to the right(like a hammock, but more..floaty ) Some random immages and scenery passed before my eyes. Sadly enough, some random anoying bird, whom was sitting in the tree besides my open window, made some noice , and I woke up.
I should consider buying earplugs I guess
Ow and, I never have experienced sleep paralyses naturally/accidently, so I dont know what it should look/feel like for me.
