Well, I think the important thing is to convince your brain that dreams are important and should not be forgoten. Even if you make it a goal before you fall asleep, to remember your dreams, that alone could boost your dream recall. You can also start a dream journal, just write whatever you remember no matter what it is and with as much detail as possible. And also, when you wake up, don't move at first. Just lie still, keep your eyes closed, and gently try to remember what you just dreamed about. Don't force yourself to remember, just relax and try to let it come back to you.
Hope that helps, the longer you practice the more you will remember. You should noticed results within a night or two, but no guarantees.
simple, practice... Start by telling yourself as you go to sleep that you WILL remember your dream/dreams when you wake up in the morning... Continue to remind yourself of this over and over until you fall asleep. Its easy for you to stop saying this to yourself as you start to fall asleep because you will start thinking about other things without realizing youre doing it, so when you start vearing off course, remind yourself, I WILL REMEMBER MY DREAM. Once ou get to a point where you can remember your dreams, you can start trying to have specific dreams by suggesting it to yourself the same way you would when you first started off by telling yourself to remember your dreams. For me, It took three days until i had it down, however i was always able to have lucid dreams when i was a kid, I just had to scrape off the rust basically... GOOD LUCK!
