Hello everyone.
Hey, I'm new here and have a few questions. First of all, I've never been a really good sleeper (trouble going to sleep, trouble staying asleep, seemingly quiet noises wake me up) so I've tried almost every trick in the book on getting to sleep/staying asleep (other than meds, I refuse to take meds). Secondly, fairly recently (within about a month or two) I'd be about half asleep and suddenly I'd just start seeing things (sometimes it's memories playing back movie style, sometimes it's things that I can't even describe). It started as a once in a while thing but now it's almost every night. Can anyone tell me what this is? I read some of the intro posts and it doesn't seem like it is a lucid dream because I never really fall asleep.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

:welcome:
It sounds like you've been experiencing HI, or Hypnogogic Imagery. It's a common thing that happens to us during the transition from the waking state to the dreaming state. The fact that you experience it a lot could mean that you'd be able to do a WILD very easily. :)

Uh, could you direct me to a dictionary of the terms that you use on this site? You kinda just went over my head :P
-
Whoops, my bad.
This should get you on your way. The only term not on that list is WBTB, which is Wake-Back-To-Bed. That is when you sleep for a few hours, wake up at a set time, and do a Lucid method of your choice.

Thanks. I'm still a little confused though. I don't think I really grasp what WILD and MILD are. I mean, I read the definition, I just don't get it :P

There should be links to the tutorials in the list next to the corresponding method. (I think). But it's all in the Tutorial section if you want to look around. :)

Thanks, I also had another question. Is there anything around here that would explain waking up in a cold sweat/waking up with your nose (or fingers) bleeding? To this day I have yet to remember what any of those dreams are about but they are becoming more frequent.

Hmm....I really have no idea, but they sound like night terrors. Try a Google search. Who knows what you could find. :)
-
:) thanks. I'll try that.

This is going to sound extremely inappropriate but in all seriousness have you tried smoking weed? Marijuana is a great aid in sleeping/staying asleep.

Lol, no, I haven't. Like I said, I don't like taking meds, that includes smoking/injecting/snorting anything. Thanks for the advice though. Maybe if I get desperate enough for a good night's sleep I'll get one of my friends to hook me up :P
