      Hi!

I was searching for something related to "choose what to dream" and I kept reading about lucid dreaming. I had never heard of that before, so I googled it, and came across this page.

I'm 17 years old, male, from Norway. I'm really interested in dreaming and dreaming related stuff. I have always wanted to "choose what to dream". Not because I'm a pervert wanting to dream.... that sort of stuff. I'm just really interested in dreaming. I want to explore the depths of our oceans. I want to explore the outer universe. I know it won't be real, but it will be VERY exciting. Honestly, I can't wait. I also want to fly. I have dreamt that I'm flying before a couple of times. I have to use my hands to stay in the air, though:S

One question at the end of my presentation: I keep falling asleep in the car. I can't help it. The weird thing is, I'm not raelly sleeping, nor am I awake. I can hear the engine run, but I can't really speak. I'm thinking as normal. It's like I'm in a coma or anything. I think that I'm dreaming sometimes, but I'm not sure. Next time I will try to control that dream, because I know I'm dreaming when I am. I suppose that's what lucid draeming is all about, being aware that I'm dreaming. I have read the lectures on teh Home Page, however, I stopped when I came to the incuction part. I don't want too much info yet. I want to recall my drams first and find my dreaming signs. If I read any further I will just get excited and stop focusing on the other part.

Thats me. Looking forward to being able to control my dreams, if I ever will be...

      Welcome to Dream Views!

And it's totally alright if you want to dream about...that stuff. You'd be surprised about how many people Lucid Dream to do that sort of thing

And I'm not really sure what to say about you falling asleep. The first thing that came to my mind was Sleep Paralysis.

Everyone enters SP when they sleep. There are ways to enter it even when your not asleep. Have you been able to move your body while your in the car when this happens?

Just check out some of the tutorials, have a good time, and stay away from some places *cough*lounge*cough* until you think your ready to go there!

I cannot move, not intentionally at least. I'll read the tutorials, yes.

      What's up with the lounge?

That's cool but the debates are kinda one sided so far as religion.

Sleep paralysis is what everyone enter when they go to sleep. It is basically the mind's way of telling your body to stay still during this dream. If it did not, then the body would be up and moving around in sleep. People who WILD try to get into SP while still awake, as this means they are on their way to a drem. Its basically the body itself falling asleep. People who WILD wait for the body to fall asleep, while the mind stays awake. They then start to see imagery that get more vivid as time goes on. This is like the "painting" of a dream. Until finally, they enter a dream fully lucid from the waking world, without haveing to recognize dream signs.

But yeah. We go into SP every night.

Thats very interesting. You see, I read somewhere in here about another way of getting my body to sleep without WILDing ir something. I just lay in my bed in ONE position at all times. Not scratch the itching or change position. Eventually the body will go to sleep because the mind is not responding to the body's way of finding out if the mind is asleep. Seeing as I tried to resist moving at all my body fell asleep and that wave they talked about came. I also started hearing sounds at times, a but scary but nothing's going to happen, right I stopped focusing on the dream stuff and became very tired. Got a bad conscience because I thought it was getting very late and I had to go to school the next day. So I quit and fell asleep. I remember I dreamed, two dreams I remember, but they weren't lucid. I guess that method works better if the body is tired.

      One question, though:

Will I lose the feeling of feeling rested when I dream lucidly? Like, basically I'm "awake" as I dream. Will I feel as if I didn't sleep at all the next day? Then again, perhaps it's worth it if I remember my lucid dream?

First off, what you described IS a textbook WILD

Second, the mind actualy never stops working until the day it dies, even in sleep. So while your asleep your mind is still awake sorting through information even when your not lucid. And most people report feeling even MORE refreshed after a night of lucid dreams.

So no, lucid dreaming will not cause you to be more tired unless you use a technique that makes you lose sleep.

After reading in here today I understand that to focus on the "task" a necessity, although I must not focu too hard. Stay relaxed, say in my mind that "I will remember my dreams and I will have a lucid dream." This helps focusing as well as it makes the mind prepared to the lucid dream. I'll try this tonight as well. As mentioned, I got a bad concience last time due to school (up early in the morning). I'll try full-hearted this night. I'll see if I enter SP and then focus on gradually entering that deam! I have yet to discover my dream signs and make a habit of doing reality checks when awake. What I want to do is to realize that I'm dreaming. Then try to not get all excided and perhaps try to change some things around me. Personally I want to dream, swim under water etc.

One thing, I often am at strange places. Last night I dreamed that some russians were fighting, then they were trying to make cars explode. Then my friend said: We have an eesay to hand in. I woke up and realized that I forgot my dream journal upstairs. I got back to sleep.

      Good luck!!!
When going into SP and HI, make sure not to try and supress or change any thoughts that arise. Let them flow, and instead of changing them directly, try to incorperate yourself into the "dream" thats unfolding. Then envision yourself becomeing lucid, all the while NOT changing the "dream" itself that much. The trick is to be focused, yet to allow things to happen as they will.
