How often do you remember dreams?

Hey...im completely new to this forum but thought it would be a good idea for me to join something like this because i have dreams that i remember every night and sometimes i even realize that i am in dreams and try to control them.....i think that is what you guys refer to as lucid dreams

I was just wondering how often do you people remember your dreams and is there a way of controlling how often you have dreams or not

you have quite a few dreams every night depending on how long you sleep. Its just unless you train yourslef you will forget most of them.

it all depends on the person and the hour at which you have the dream and most likely there ability. There is no way of controlling how often you have dreams except for just sleeping more.

I remember (normally) one to three dreams each night. Sometimes it's confusing though.

I've had dreams where it jumps all over the place (to completely different places and areas) but I seem to be completely convinced that they are all one dream.
I've had dreams where several memories are smashed together, and they seem to have a common thread, but I'm convinced (when I wake up) that they are all different dreams.

So It's hard to count them. I try to stick to my gut feeling, if I seem to have a "leftover" feeling from sleep that they're all different dreams, I write them that way. The opposite is also true: If they seem to be completely different dreams, but I feel that they're all one, I write them that way.

Btw: I'm trying to learn to remember more/train myself to wake up after each one. So I should improve.

It really depends on how long you sleep. I usually remember 1-2, but sometimes can remember 3-4 on the weekends cause I sleep a lot longer :dreaming: :zzz: .

ya i usually sleep around 7 hours a night.......was alot more during the summer but now i cant sleep in no more.
i do have a jumble of dreams every night that sometimes i cant tell whether it is 1 dream or 4 dreams
i was wondering how do you train yourself to remember all your dreams and to remember them more clearly
also......will my dream frequency change as i grow older or does it usually stay around the same?

I remember from 2-5 dreams a night. The key is to keep your dream jounal by your bed and write in it as soon as you can after waking. You don't have to write a lot, just a few sentances to help yo remember in the morning.

Then fill in the details before your day starts.

Most like;y you will remember more if you hav a motivation to do so, and a perfect example of that is a dream journal. Can be annoying when your really tired and can't be bothered writing stuff down, but the pro's definetly outweigh the con's. Depending on what i am focusing on before i go to sleep, i may remeber nothing, or might remember 2-4 dreams.

I usually remmebr 2 or 3 a night. i usslay rememebr more dreams when im laying down to go to bed.

I remembered on average 2 per night when I started my dream journal, but lately I've been only writing about .5 per night because I've been slacking off! Thankfully this board is back so I can get motivated again. :D

Working on it... The more I sleep the more I dream and the more I remember... ~6 hrs I never remember anything unless I wake up from a dream, ~8 hours the same actually but if I lie still and try really hard things can start getting back to me, sadly usually you have to get up and start running... more then 8 hrs usually for me means that i'm sleeping in which means that after 8 hrs I drift in and out of dreams and remembering a ton... usually I'm too lazy at that point to record anything so I forget em right away haha.

Hi, I'm completely new to this forum as well.
I came to this post in particular because when I wake up, everyday, I remember about 3 dreams I had while sleeping. I also remember ever single detail of each of the dreams.
I have only had a few lucid dreams that I can remember, and I'm very much looking forward to having more.
I was wondering... is it easier for someone who remembers their dreams vividly like myself to begin to lucid dream?

I would think it is easier to have LD's if you remember dreams really well, as you can then write them all down and begin to form dreamsigns, and stuff like that. Not being able to remember any dreams makes it hard, as you have nothing to work off in a way, what to look out for and such.

I can usually remember most of my dreams pretty well, but I usually have to chart them right away otherwise I tend to forget later. My problem is I can remember my dreams if I get up on my own, but its when someone comes in my room and is like "Get up get up!" and then hangs around for awhile to make sure I'm getting up, that's when I totally forget. And the latter seems to happen to me most mornings :P .

I'm going to say that I probably remember 1-3 dreams a night.

I think its hard to remember "dreams". I have no problem with remembering them, but to try to remember how many or what happend when is the problem. Sometimes, mostly just before awakening, the dreams are most vivid and straigh forward. During the night theyr all humpety bumpy... or so its seems when trying to remember another rem periode for me.

Remembering every dream is probally a bit out of our reaches, as there are so many. Although having a couple written down will be more than enough for a dream journal. Your memories should get better as your intent on remembering them becomes stronger over the weeks.
