Almost went lucid?

Hey guys, I've been doing RCs (I keep a index card with "Am I dreaming right now?" written on it) and remembering my dreams. Last night, I had a dream and sort of sloppily and quickly tried to pull the index card out of my pocket and when I looked at it, the writing was really blurred so I realized I was dreaming but almost immediately woke up. What were some possibilities of things I did wrong?

though I'm also newbie, I heard that most of the people wake up when having there first Lucid dream, because you feel so good because you finally did it. I think you made nothing wrong and just have to keep it on.

I had my first lucid dream yesterday too, but I stayed dreaming.
So keep it up and hopefully the next one will last longer for you
