having trouble with induction...

I have learned about lucid dreams about a year ago, and over this year, i have had about six lucid dreams, but each one has come at a random time. two of these times, i tried to have a lucid dream by having some caffine before bed, or something sugary. With caffine, I did not have a lucid dream, but I noticed that my dream was more vivid than normal. When I tried sugar, (diet rootbeer) I achieved a lucid dream. when i was in the dream, i new that I was not focused enough because I could feel my body rolling over in my bed, but when i focused on the dream, i could no longer feel it. This is about the most control I have had over my lucid dreams so far. Also, I usually get excited too easily and wake up almost immediately, even when I remind myself to be calm.

Any ideas on induction(while sleeping normally, not WILD) or how to gain better control?

p.s. when I had the lucid dream with the rootbeer, I intentionally drank it fast so that it would all kick in at the same time. would this have an effect?

I believe that caffine may have worked, because many people on the forums have also reported a lucid dream when having caffine before bed

well, i guess what i meant was i dont know if drinking it fast so it would all kick in at the same time helped or not.
because i know, depending on what your doing, caffine can help.

Hi lamppost10, if caffine works for you, then use it ;) I think the effect on your body could keep you more on the edge of being aware as you start to dream. Your main issue is getting excited. You need to spend sometime thinking and imagining that you are lucid. Picture yourself in total control of your mind and emotions. You need stop, look around and act. Do not let your feelings overwhelm you as you start to master your dreams. It is very exciting, true, but you need to stay calm :)
