Well, you need to sleep to dream, so if your not sleeping, your not dreaming. Lucid or otherwise. Mabey with WILDs, you are more motivated to go to sleep for Lucid Dreams, you are going to bed :)
Each person is diffrent. Some people can LD on very little sleep. Others need about 8 hours before they can LD. You'll have to find out which it is for you. Remeber being able to recall your dreams is very important. If you can remember your dreams on very little sleep you should do okay. But if you can't, you need to work on getting better dream recall skills or trying to LD is useless.
I don't know why WILDing helps you fall asleep. Perhaps it somehow relaxes you?
Well insomnia is sleep disorder, and there are other sleep disorders like not being able to get REM, or not getting deep sleep (even though you sleep 8 hours)
Since dreams are largely in REM, then sure, you can have dreams and be an insomniac, if you really have sleep troubles ;)
But then you should be seeing a sleep therapist IMO
Oh and of course, less than perfect dream recall makes it hard to really determine how many dreams you're actually having anyway..
