first of all, it was probably a false awakaning.
second of all, this is the lucid dreaming section.
:? It's called the newbie zone for a reason.

Rachel, it's quite possible that when you woke yourself up, you weren't actually successful and simply had a False Awakening, a dream about waking up. These are pretty common and absolutely harmless, though they can be disconcerting if you don't intend to have one and if you aren't sure what it is. If you thought that you were really in a dream once you'd 'woken up', then it sounds like you may have had a lucid dream or almost gotten one. If you read about reality checks, you can be prepared, in case you think you are still dreaming again, to find out whether or not you are actually still in a dream and thus become lucid :)
It sounds like lucid dreaming may not have been your goal, but lucid dreaming (dreaming while knowing you are dreaming) offers infinite possibilities (you can manipulate, control, or just go with the crazy flow of a dream while being aware and awake during it) and is a ton of fun, so now that you're here you should look into it! ;)
Thanks :D I hope I have one of those tonight your mind is like totally open and not dead brained like in dreams of course till you notice its a dream and btw am I in the right zone I mean this is for any dream related thing for people who know nothing.
