I really want to master lucid dreaming, but I don't know where to start. I awaken in the mornings to my brother's baby crying and it KILLS my dream recall. I even have ear plugs in but that baby is so damn loud. :(

you should try wilding or get industrial ear plugs
even better sound instilate your room
My parents would not want me having that kinda work done on their house. Haha
Maybe I will try for industrial ear plugs. I live with a very noisey family.
And hey, I have a hard time remembering my dreams in the morning. I can't tell if it's cos waking up to loud baby crying or just bad recall? It used to be better. Any tips?
1. get rid of the baby
2. sleep outside
3. rent a hotel room
Try waking up in the middle of the night, 3-6 hours after you fall asleep and recording your dreams so far. When I do this it usually boosts my recall by 1-2 dreams in just a day or two. Since you are up also, you can try inducing a lucid dream using the WILD method.
By the way, welcome to the forums. :D
Thanks for the welcome. :] Mkay, I will try that tonight. I think I better start getting to bed around 10 PM from now on for that though. Haha I have been going to bed at 2 or 3 AM lately. Should I stay up for an hour to let my mind awaken? If so, what's something productive to lucid dreaming I could do during this time period?
Hey Jackal, welcome to DV :)
Is there any time during the day that you can nap and not be disturbed by the baby? Also, if it is quite during the night you should be able to recall dreams from the wee hours, so the baby shouldn't bust ALL of your dream recall. Developing a negative attitude is probably going to cause you wake up every morning so annoyed that you'll sort of kill any ability to remember anyway :( I hate screaming babies as much as the next person, but maybe try to just embrace that recall in the morning may not happen, maybe that alone will help?
Getting plenty of sleep will also increase the amount of dreaming you are capable of doing during the night, so if you can it might help to go to bed earlier. And time spent online can be used to look up youtube videos for dream goal inspiration, or to come on here and chat with other members, or just to read a lot about lucid dreaming :)
Thanks, Shift. :]
Unfortunately the baby is here every second of the day that I am, so I can't sleep any other time. But you're right, I can get up in the middle of the night to recall dreams. Starting tonight I am doing WBTB every night, then MILD based on my last recalled dream an hour later. We'll see how that works. Yeah, I think you're right about the frustration of the baby in the morning killing any chance of dream recall. So if I remember dreams in the morning, great, if not, I will remember them in the middle of the night instead. :]
Listen to shift but I personaly get dreams when I'm very tired so you could try going late to bed
Hmm, I would, but I am a health guru and know how much more beneficial hours of sleep before midnight are to the human body. I know, call me prude.
Ya, the more tired you are the easier it seems to be to acheive lucidity I've noticed. Sometimes when I know I'm going to bed if I don't feel like WBTBing I will just lie down infront of the TV on the couch with a blanket or somewhere since that makes you more tired for a couple hours but not go to sleep. Then I notice my head is kind of in a pre-dream state that helps make things easier.
Well, I moved into the computer room for sleeping and I can't hear the baby at all in this room. It's amazing, so problem solved. :] Still no lucid dreams, but come hell or high water I am going to have one.
good luck
i hear that!
