What kind of technique was that?

I´ve looked around here some time ago but sadly never adapted any techniques to dream more lucid- but i end up having approx. one per week naturally.

What makes me think is my new alarm-clock- it induced 2 LD in a row.
I slept about 15min in the afternoon, i´m not sure weather i was concious that i was dreaming, but when the alarm went off i snoozed- it´s timed to 4min- so every 4 min my alarm went off and i woke up and went immediately back to sleep again.
But in these periods i was lucid for sure, and that happend everytime i snoozed (for 40min).

Is that some kind of technique? I thought maybe a WBTB? But i was dreaming already before my alarm went off..
Is it even possible to go back to sleep and dream in such a short period of time? (I remember something in school about sleep phases..)

What strikes me as odd is that you report dreaming after 15 minutes. That doesn't make sense for the afternoon (maybe after waking in the early morning). Maybe you had some sort of crazy REM rebound. Read here for more about sleep stages.

It is possible to dream between snooze hits. Of course, I prefer waking up and writing the dream down instead of enduring the alarm.

It's possible to dream during NREM stages of sleep, and it's also possible to have REM-onset during naps. Regarding getting up every few minutes like that, I'm not sure if it is a named technique or anything, causing yourself to be awakened by such constant disruptions. I think someone was actually doing research or a survey or something on it recently. I'll have to see if I can find it for you. Generally the idea was that doing this over and over again would cause you to have false awakenings or something to that effect and that you could train yourself to RC to catch them. Is that how yours started?

It's definitely possible to go back to dreams that quickly. The DEILD technique is one surefire way to do it :D Maybe that's even what you were using, just that the end/exit of the dream was defined by the alarm rather than a 'natural' or whatever awakening.

@ Abra: I thought it was odd to dream between snoozes- I´m dreaming pretty regularly in my afternoon naps. Thanks for the link- i looked it up too in wikipedia- could be something like "Sleep onset REM"

@ shift: The trick was simply that when the same dream went on as before i knew it was a dream- without any RC. So i was lucid every time beween the snoozes!

Usually my problem is that i only change some minor things in the beginning of the LD. Then i just let the dream go on and observe... as i was waking up and starting over again this time i got to change lots (even made time stop :) )

I would really like to read more on this as it produces really great LD!
So if you remember who did that survey let me know.

unfotuneatly im not so certain. i have very much the same experinces as you, waking up going back to sleep then waking up again and going back to sleep. i belive your more day dreaming in this period then anything, well if this is LD then i dont know how many i have had :D
