Since I've always been fascinated about dreams. As a child, I went to sleep by pulling the covers over my head and envisioning my bed surrounded by a forcefield. I pictured my troubles and people yelling at me outside my bubble, and I can turn the volume off as I wish. I then use my bed to explore the world. I have an irking feeling that we all know more than we can bring out in our conscious thought, and that if we can just bring out our subconscious thought that we can control a lot more of our mind's abilities. Anyway, I was amazed when I found this forum and realized how many people are interested in LD's. I guess I'll post a bit about myself and my dream history so we can get to know each other.
I found this board on a hunch. I was thinking about the ability to control your dreams, when one of the characters on a TV show I was watching (Radio Free Roscoe on The-N) mentioned keeping a dream journal to control your dreams. So I wondered if it was actually possible and found this site through google.
I've always dreamed (no pun intended) of the ability to live a dual life, one real and one conceived. I've had quite a few LD's, almost always ending in waking up within 10-20 seconds of realizing that it's a dream. Typically, I use this time to create complete chaos or do the extraordinary like flying. I remember one dream about a girl trapped by a witch. As I run from the witch after an unsuccessful rescue attempt, I realize that it's a dream and just start to break every one of her pots. There are other LD's in which I actually force myself awake, such as dreams with bad consequences that I wish to end.
My most frequent LD is a reoccurring dream that I've had since I was young. I'm riding my bycicle down the hill by the house I grew up in. It's a steep hill that overlooks the ocean, and in the dream the house that's at the bottom and guarding fence are gone, and I can't stop my bike in time to prevent myself falling off a cliff to the ocean. Yet I've had the dream so many times that I stop it right when I reach the bottom of the hill.
One thing that's always seemed weird to me is dreams where I'm hurt or injured. I was always told that this is not supposed to be possible, but in some of my dreams I honestly believe I feel pain. It's more of an uncomfortable tingling feeling, but it's definitely something that I can't escape and I wake up feeling uncomfortable. In some dreams that I was being attacked or hurt, I've actually realized that they are a dream and tried to wake up unsuccessfully. I try to hit myself to no avail.
I've always had a good dream recall, as I typically remember my dreams fairly well through most of the day. I will start keeping a dream journal when I pick up a notebook tomorrow.
I think I've blabbed on about myself enough. I look forward to trying out the methods I've learned so far from this site. I'm constantly reminding myself that I'm awake and hope that I will repeat these events in my sleep. If any of you can address my being hurt while asleep or can tell me a definite way to get out of my dreams quickly, please assist me. And I look forward to spinning next time I notice I'm dreaming. :D
