Lucid dreaming isn't dangerous.
I don't really believe OBE is possible.

No, there is no danger in tricking your body to sleep.

About the mind chewing bubble gum. The mind is an amazing mechanism which we have not yet even begun to understand. When you are in REM - you are there anyway , and ACTING willfully as you would do in real life. .You are "conscious" - as in you think it`s real. So - becoming lucid is using the already active mind's dreams to your own entertainment. Like with the same amount of water that you drank, you now take a shower with - same water, same amount , different use for it.
So leave aside these ideas, and discover the world of LD knowing that it's safe and good for you. ( Free your mind... Neo :P )
An OBE is simply the perception that you have been detached from your body. Whether it is real or not is still debated, personally I believe that it's fairly easy for your body to give you the impression that you're not longer in it even though you are, just like in a dream about anything else, except that an OBE can happen while you're awake as well. Some people think it means you've left the real reality behind and are astral projecting... if that's what you mean, the forum Beyond Dreaming is your destination.
In terms of keeping your mind awake while your body falls asleep to enter a lucid dream, this is referred to as a WILD (Wake Initiated Lucid Dream) or inaccurately sometimes as an OBE. I have yet to see a single ounce of the truth suggesting that it is anything but perfectly safe. If you think it's your soul entering an astral plane or something, I think a better grip on reality is probably necessary and the most dangerous part. Otherwise, it's harmless and a neat way to enter a lucid dream.
not from what ive heard when you sleep i think (not shure will research soon) i read somewhere that things liek the logic art of your brain turn off LD ing stiwtches it back on, again im not shure. if i was thinking rationally would i accept that last night i was in a store with a condom despencing quater machine, and a THC pill despencing quater machine? then 5 seconds later i was at my school looking for my girlfriend with her hooded sweatshirt? if that happened in real life would you go on as normal? if your brain was working proporly i would realise that that wasnt possible and i would question it. obiously from that peice of evidence your brain isnt working as it does during awake periods. in the morning when you wake up people are dopey and dont think as well becuase theyre "still waking up". i may be wrong but LDing wakes up part of you brain which when you sleep is usaully off.Quote:
