Problems becoming lucid
Hello, this is the first post i have made on the DV forums. Ive been reading everything in site about LDs. For the past 2 weeks i have been recording my dreams. I have a some what good dream memory. I have at least one very clear almost vivid dream a night. I can have as many as 3 clear dreams all with a few chapters when i write them down. The second my dream ends i almost always wake up.
I am very happy that i have some natural talent when it comes to dreaming. I use very good logit in my dreams as well. Often taking to the time to figure out what is the best desigin in my dreams. However I can't seem to get my mind to jump to the conclusion that im dreaming. I Talk my self into remebering my dreams and all that before bed, combined with my arlarm clock waking me up once early, about 6 hours into sleep or 2 hours before my real alarm clock sounds. I feel so close but still unable to take that little step into a lucid dream.
I was hopping that some of the more experience and beginning lucid dreamers might be able to give me a little insight or advice for completeing my transfermation into a lucid dream. Thanks for your help.

I am going to keep doing as i have been. I hope once i get a LD or two that my mind will figure out any tricks and help increase my ability to become lucid. Ill keep the boards posted with any information and tips i come up with. Thanks again man

yeah as seeker says your already on the right track, keep going like this and youll have a LD sometime soon.
a couple of tips for you, since you asked.
when your alarm clock wakes you up, try staying awake for half an hour or as long as you can (15 mins-hour is fine, if you stay up and hour you increase your awareness in-dream and raise your chances of having an LD) and when you try to go to sleep again try to do a MILD, or if you feel up for it WILD. WILD is pretty advanced but some people find it easier than MILD in terms of success.
And if you have the time, go out and buy some vitamin B-6. It doesnt have any side effects and isnt really a 'drug' as such, just a supplement. It will in short clear the brain up so that sleep does not dampen it too much. doesnt have any side effects, just aids in dream vividness and gives an increased chance of LD success.
this, however is completely optional but no doubt very useful to do.

You seem to be in the same boat as me, remembering dreams, but not being able to recognise your dreaming, and therefore unable to become lucid. Whenever you can during the day, just think about how real your surroundings are, and what makes them real, if you arn't dreaming that is!
Reality checks do work, but this is something you can try on top of them, i believe it is slowly programming your sunconscience mind to realise. RC's imo are just luck, they may or may not work. So just give it a couple more weeks, keep up some sort of positive reinforcement, and if needed relax a few nights and sleep without trying to LD.

Yep, as everyone else said, just keep trying and soon you'll get your lucid dream. It'll sneak up on you when you least expect it. :wink:
Anyway, when you wake up, try staying up for up to an hour, but find a time that works well for you. You might find that after an hour, you can't get back to sleep, so try a shorter time. During the time, do something to keep your mind active, like reading or writing. You mentioned that you think logically in dreams, so combined with reality checks, that should work well.
MILD is a good technique to use at first. People usually say that WILD is much harder, but it all depends on you. You might find that you're a bit of a natural at using WILD. Just try some of the techniques in the tutorial section here, or from anywhere else, and find out which ones work best for you.

Hey, you sound like me!...but you're not me, I know. :)
Anyway, you're on the right track. Have you looked into some of the induction techniques? My first LD came after about 3 weeks and I did WBTB to have it. Just try something for a while and if it's not working after time there are other things you can do. Don't get discouraged because it'll come. (I'm on a +3 month dry spell personally.)
