I'm scared of going Lucid again.

I've been it twice in my life, once intentionally and once by accident. The accident was when I was about 8, I didn't know about it back then. The intentional was just a few days ago. I also have almost fell into them un-intentionally when I didn't know about LD's (I got that sinking feeling, SP, etc.)

Now that I think about it, I'm scared. Deep down, I always imagine the worst possible scenario. And to be honest, I'm scared of becoming vulnerable in many ways. I can't imagine myself becoming paralyed without freaking the hell out.

That and feeling like, as some people put it, feel like they are picked up and thrown out of their bed. Hallucinations, etc. It scares the living crap out of me, I know it's not real but seriously. Scary movies aren't real but I'm sure the Hills Have Eyes scared you too.

If you want, remind yourself as you fall asleep that what ever happens will only be a dream, and that you are not really in any danger at all.

When young, people usually have had lucid dreams often then grow older and forget them. When we DO remember it is due to the fact that is was related to a terrifying dream. My first lucid dreams were like that, but I got over the fear and left it behind.

If lucid as the dream begins, anyone can boldly face whatever is threatening them.

When I have scary sleep paralysis I just remember it isn't real and I get through it.

Don't worry. I used to be afraid of sleep paralysis , but now i am looking forward to it. Nothing spectacular is going to happen when u go to sleep that does not every night. You might become aware of a few things ( noises, how SP feels like). Lucid dreams usually start very calm and slow (FA, your bedroom), and develop from there. I've never had a bad experience while lucid, so do not worry, it is just a dream.

First off, the reason I wasn't scared by "The Hills Have Eyes" was that I didn't watch it. I avoid those kinds of movies (now) because I know that they upset me... a lot. I'll stick with my action flicks :)

I've never found myself in SP or experienced hypnogoic hallucinations, so I can't draw from experience, but I can tell you that I've read of plenty of peoples' accounts of being afraid of what's going to happen and they made it through just fine. The more you dwell on the negative and what "could" happen, the more you're going to just stress yourself out. Not everyone experiences violent shaking or hears freaky sounds. Everyone is different, especially when it comes to dreaming and there's no reason you won't be able to make it through this experience just fine :)

Things are rarely as bad as they seem. Relax and remind yourself that it's all in your head. Instead of focusing on the negative that people have written about (or feared themselves but never experienced), focus on the accounts of people who have had successful and enjoyable experiences. The more you stress yourself out, the more likely that you will have stressful dreams. Enjoy them and take things one step at a time. You'll be fine :hug:

I feel exactly the same way. The times i've had lucids and remember them is when something traumatic has happened.
