Motivation!!!
Does anybody have any trouble staying motivated to continue writing down their dreams? I really, really want to lucid dream, but I always have trouble forcing myself to actually write them down.
Then I don't remember anything :(. Anybody have any ideas on how to break this nasty habit?

How about think how happy if you can control your dreams?

Unfortunately, if it's something you really want to do, the only thing you can do is just suck it up and keep writing them down. It does get easier to recall your dreams as time goes on, but writing them in a journal is a reminder that your dreams are important to you and you want to remember them.
If you're having trouble taking the time to write down every detail, then just write down a brief summary using keywords and phrases. Write enough to keep the dream fresh in your mind so that when you go back, you can fill in the blanks.
If you have a friend or someone that you see regularly who is also interested in dreams and/or lucid dreaming, you could take time to share your latest dream(s) with them. I did that when I was younger and it did wonders for my recall! I regret not knowing about lucid dreaming at that time as I feel I would have done very well with it, but oh well. If you get into the habit of sharing your dreams with other people, then they expect to hear from you regularly and there's an accountability factor.
There's no dream recording device, so until they invent that you're just going to have to hang on to your pen and paper. Don't give up!

When I need some motivation, I read through some old dream journals. I re-discover so many fun adventures I've had. You can also try reading through other peoples' dream journals online.

You might find a few that inspire you to improve your own dreams.

I'm having just the same problem. My solution is to skip a day when I really don't feel like writing my dreams down. But when I skip it, I promise myself NOT to skip at least two following days... That the way it works for me.
Another suggestion is to tell yourself again and again that when you'll wake up you will write down your dreams, just the same way you tell yourself "I will lucid dream tonight" or "When I wake up I'll recall my dreams". I've noticed that autosuggestion works for almost anything, you can even use it to bring up feelings in the future...

Youtube videos and etc. help a lot.
Also the knowledge that, essentially, within three weeks of neglecting my dream journal I will enter a dryspell that will last up to two months

Reading dream journals and watching movies with cool things to do is pretty good motivation.

Think about what you want to do in your dream/lucid dream, imagine what it will be like when you have that dream, and really get excited about it. Think of what a shame it would be if you forgot an amazing dream because you were too lazy to write it down. Also make sure you get more sleep time than you need; that way you won't mind waking up in the middle of the night as much.

Well dude, for most of us here lucid dreaming takes effort, and recall is just part of the process.
I find writing in my dream journal boring too at times, but it's the best way for me to recall dreams. Trust me, you'll be glad you took the time to jot down those memories when you're finally lucid. It all pays off in the end.
If it really bothers you that much to write your experiences down in your dj, when you awake write only the key points. You'll still remember a good portion of the dream, and you can expand on what you wrote later on if you feel like it.

Epic music is a good motivator. Try to find music that inspires you, and listen to it before bed, and after you write down a dream.
