Isn't a mild like autosuggestion? And if so, what is the best way to do a mild? What has worked for you?
You have to do reality checks often. Often enough that you even do it in your dreaming state. You can look at a clock, stop, look again. If it is suddenly and possibly dramatically different you are dreaming. Look for things that seem to strange to happen or a circumstance that you would not let happen in the real world. For example, walking into a food store with no cloths on... For the sake of the people it is hopefully just a dream lol.
Mild is mostly repeating stuff like "I will have a lucid dream" repeatedly (autosuggestion). DILD is more of a reality check technique. It always helps to do reality checks, but just clarifying it. I use MILD and DILD.
