      Firstly - Welcome to DreamViews

My answer - First person, IMHO. Much more personal and positive
However its not always possible... depends on the suggestion

Using a Name (have a look at NST for what i mean) is best but other than that you is the next powerfull. This works because if you say 'I somthing' and your subconcious view of the world dosent match you wont take it in. By using 'you' you bypass any preconceptions about you personal sitiuation. Hope that made sense :-)

      Subliminals

      Hi statistically speaking,

Experiments have shown that subliminals doN'T necessarily work very well. This may because there not personalized... So if there is a chance that they do work, You need to use your name in the tape (and yes do not say "I"... always say You, when talking to subconscious"). Heres an example:

"John Doe(your name), Tonight you will experience a lucid dream. In your dreams you will realize the things that are illogical and you will know you are dreaming. John, when you become lucid tonight, you will excersize your control over the dream. Tonight, John, you will have dreams about pink and blue dragons."

Hope that helps... and of course if you do this, reword it too personalize it. Try to time it during a REM phase... then perhaps you will hear it in your dream. If you time it in a N-REM, that will atleast program your mind... so either way your good.

Could be a coinsidence but i tried for some days ago after reading this post to say "you" instead of "I" when i talk to my subc. And ive had two lucid dreams on two nights
It feels like when im saying "I" its lazy me wanting to try to do something but when i say "you" it feels like an authority person talking that wants to have results.

      Cool

      Yes, I don't think thats a coincedence,

Saying YOU is alot more powerfull for most people... Also as you pointed out it does seem to have more authority. One more thing... always say it with confidence, If your already having results... and they are because of that, then your very lucky... keep it up!

So are you saying that saying 'YOU' is more powerful than using the NST method of actually naming your subconscience?Or maybe a mixture of the two ideas could be successful...
The trick is to combine your waking, rational thoughts to the infinite possiblities of your dreams...

      Both

Using a combination of the two would be most effective. Either of them by themselfs are probably equally as effective... If you combine them, you may have slightly better results.

Use your name (for your subconscious or whatever) and "YOU" just like you would in normal life:

Example: John, You will do your best on the test tomorrow. You are going to feel very confident and relaxed. John, tomorrow you will ace that test.

Note: Remember when doing self affirmations to never use negative words example:

John, You will not be lazy or stupid on the test. You are going to be the opposite of wired and nervous. John, tomorrow you won't screw up that test..

This is because the subconscious mind only computes what you put into it... Your subconscious mind only tends to see the words stupid, lazy, nervous, wired, and screw up... SO keep everything positive, never use the words not or don't in your affirmations.

      Hope that helps,

      -Daniel

Well. I've lost my hope in subliminals, but the same principle still applies to self hypnosis
This decision of 'YOU' being better... is this based on experience?

This "YOU" consept is based on my experience, statistical data, and others experience... It can't hurt to try, just use "you" as if your talking to your inner self.

It's obvious that "I" is consciousness (Only Self-Realization would say I), so your not directly talking to your subconscious if you say it.
