I am fascinated by dreams and curious about lucid dreams. I have a question to any of the lucid dreamers, would you say that you are happier after learning how to lucid dream?

I would say I'm not much happier now with the frequent lucidity.
In fact, the awareness and freedom can be so hungered for at times when I'm in waking life. Detachment in waking life for even a moment with people around doesn't work out too well for the most part. I don't feel true to myself much of the time, it can get frustrating being so divided -- people just don't really understand if you try to explain about this other life, and much of the time reject you for it.
Recreationally I'd say it can contribute to happiness, but as it stands for me, it leans more towards the division, which I find miserable. I haven't dreamt joyously for a very long time.
It all depends on your perspective I'd say. Happiness doesn't have so much to do with circumstance, but rather personal choice.
yeah, what cloud said. and not being able to freely talk about it is a downer... :(
...but by all means, try it out if you have the time, or if you dont care what other people think.
Well for me so far it has givin me soemthing to look forward to trying when I go to bed, but what cloud said is true, even though i've only been doing this for about a week and have only had one you don't really get to talk about it. But i have a friend that is trying to do it to so we talk about it.
I am so very much happier. I have a great hobby that I enjoy, just like I do my other hobbies. I can do impossible fun things, which is a blast. Sleep has become even more exciting, and I make sure to get more sleep than I used to, which is also good. I have fun goals, and look forward to them. I have people on DV who I can talk about this hobby with, some of which I have become good friends with, and it has also greatly motivated me to read more research articles and work on my critical thinking and understanding of empirical research and how methodologies can be applied, since I now also collect articles on lucid dreaming and associated topics.
I used to hate going to sleep because Waking life was more fun...or so I thought.
LD'ing has become a hobby for me and instead of just sleeping I'm doing something with the time spent asleep. Trying to become lucid has gave me something to do in my sleep and is a great hobby.
I actually look forward to bed now.
I can't really talk about it to my friends but the people at DV's give me somebody to talk to it about.
So I'd say I'm more happy than I was before.
I am a lot happier. It is great to know that no matter what, I can enjoy the most amazing experiences whenever I want. It takes a lot of the pressure and stress out of life.
It is a similar question to asking someone if they are happier after their vacation. Sure their life is still the same when they return, but they have all the great memories of the fun they had.
Lucid dreaming has made be much happier. It has become a way for me to get rid of certain disapointments. For example, if I have a moment of, "Darn, wish I could have done things differently" or things like that, I usually just fix it in a Lucid, and even though not real it makes me feel better. :P (Of course since I don't have many Lucid Dreams, that average 1 LD a month has to do it for me. ;) )
As for sharing the fact of lucidity, I usually keep it to my self most of the time because people look at you strange when you mention it to them. If I have a cool lucid and must share it with somone, I usually just run upstairs and tell whoever I meet first about it. (Though I don't mention anything about lucidity) and they usually at least act excited for me. If that doesn't do it for me, I usually wait till my next lucid to share my excitement with DC's. (Sorta odd, but heck it works)
So yeah, has certainly made my life a bit happier.
of course Lucid Dreaming makes me happy, why else would I try so hard to learn how? Shift gave good examples of why it's so fun. Lucid Dreaming is a blast, and sometimes it's fun when someone says something like "I wish I could fly! I wonder what it would be like" and, even though I can't tell anyone, I know what it feels like. And achieving your "lucid goals" is fun too. Man the first time I ever realized I was dreaming... it was like an adrenaline rush just knowing I was dreaming.
if you're that good at lucid dreaming!
man this is actually motivating me to get back into LDing. It's been much too long
