2 small lucids within a week of trying - is that normal?

Hola. I'm kinda new to this (even though I did try a little a couple of years ago). I've been trying for a week now (since one night I came across this site) using the beeping watch thing (every hour it beeps I ask myself "am I dreaming?") and last thursday I had (at the end of the night) a tiny lucid dream!!! It was kinda wierd. Only lasted a few seconds. I noticed I was losing it so I started spinning (as the tutorials suggested), but this didn't work and I woke!

I had another last night. Funnily enough, these were the only two nights I actually woke up after a dream and wrote down my dreams, then after the second one (at about 6 in the morning) I went to sleep saying in my head "I will have a lucid dream, be able to control it, and remember it"... ...this ended up just the word "lucid" as I couldn't concentrate on the whole lot!

This morning's one lasted longer: I woke up in a strange room (like I slept with someone, but was so drunk I couldn't remember), and on waking I realised it's a dream, so I tried my best to concentrate and not wake up. At first I didn't want to move, incase I actually moved in reality and started to sleepwalk... :lol: !! But I got up and realised I was only in my underwear - So I looked for my clothes and that became my demise!! I concentrated on getting on a pair of jeans so much because they became stuck (this happened in a previous dream with a t-shirt) that I woke due to the frustration of it and claustrophobia!!

If anyone has any hints as to how to overcome this issue (if anyone else has ever had it?) cos it's bloody annoying and ruins my dreams!

More importantly I'm quite surprised that I've managed to have a lucid dream TWICE in such a short time, when there are people trying for years without luck! Is this normal? And how much better will it get? The one last night was amazingly realistic (or so I remember thinking), but the memory isn't! :cry: Oh, and how much longer are they expected to be?

About how quickly you had LD's... It's not exactly unusual, but it varies greatly from person to person

The spinning not working... try something else. Not everything works the same for everyone - for example I can read well in dreams (you're not meant to be able to ;))
Try a different technique - for example, try verbal commands. In the dream scream out 'CLARITY!!' or something along those lines
With me - it has a dramatic effect

Also perhaps try running your hands down walls and along rough floors. Feel it, smell it, see it...

About the clothing - I've had the problem of dreaming that my T-Shirt was way too small, and I had no pants on
The reason? I was dreaming with a bad t-shirt, and without pants :D :oops:
My suggestion - try to ignore it. Or try to turn it into a good reason for it that wont distract you ...
I know, easier said than done. But you'll get the hang of it ;)

When it comes lucid dreaming & more psychological factors I dont think there's anything that can be classified as 'unusual' since we dont know all that much about what works for everyone yet, for some people it takes a while, for some people it works the first night. Keep trying :)

i've only had 2 dreams myself.
when i first realized i was dreaming, i got too excited and woke up seconds later..
the second time i tried, i decided to calm myself since i didn't wanna make the same mistake twice. and it worked! i spent most of the dream flying around :)

i think you need to gain more control if you're going to ignore the fact that you're naked (or whatever)
that part is kinda tricky, and i haven't managed to gain total control.. yet :mad:
i still think 'dream friends' are real people connected to an online world or something, and i spent the latter part of my dream running away from an angry girl.. no need to go into reasons :oops:
it was during the running part of the dream that i lost the ability to fly, and i think it was about to fade, then my mother woke me up..

i'm NOT an expert, not even 1/3 of an expert, and i don't know if this made any sense at all, anyways GOOD LUCK in the future, and hope you dream Lucid 2night! :mrgreen:

Hey, welcome to DV! Like Placebo said, not all techniques work during any particular lucid, once you are more experienced you will gain an insight into what needs to be done. I've learned that certain dreams call for spinning, others call for verbal commands like "increase lucidity now" or "clarity NOW" or "increase visuals" (if your visuals start to fade), other times I try to rub my hands together, which works for some but not really so much for me, also try to concentrate on something little...like the fibers of your rug, or the grass, it will make it more vivd. It's not unusual at all that you are LDing so fast...I had a few LDs like 2 days after joining this site (but I had already had alot prior to joining)...so it seems that you are a natural, like me....great! You're a lucky one. As for the clothes thing...I don't really know what to tell ya, I've never had any dream clothing issues (probably b/c I sleep naked...shhh) but just remember that it's all in your head. Once you realize you're dreaming, who cares about getting dressed! Go have some fun man!! :D

Yeah, I know it'll get better, but I'd just like it to last longer than a minute and for the memory to be a little more vivid. I'm keeping a journal (kinda - when I wake up and remember anyway!), so hopefully this will get better.

Has anyone ever had a ... what dya call it? Shared dream (or maybe SD?? :lol: )

I had one when I was a kid - with my sister. We were running away from 3 bears (yes, THE 3 bears!! :mrgreen: ) with some friends of ours and we ended up in a supermarket - where our dreams parted. The fact that she confirmed loads of details (I got her to tell me some! I'm not that stupid!) And it was pretty accurate!

Dya reckon this is telepathy? Or perhaps like some kind of online dream-internet?

Yep - I've had a 98% accurate shared dream with my wife
I'm not sure exactly what it is - but it seems to imply some form of telepathy

In actual fact, my wife WILDed into my dreams when this happened... :shock:
