Beginners choice?
Hi, Im still very new at this (only a few weeks) and I've had one Lucid Dream thus far. I just wanted to know which methods the more experienced dreamers would suggest for beginners. I realize that some methods of LDing are more difficult than others but some have better chances of lucid dreaming. Can anyone with experience tell me which methods I and other newbies should be concentrating on? Which ones did you guys use at the start? I just want to know which method to work on and I'll move on from there after Ive had some sucess. thanks guys!

It depends on the indicidual, if you happen to be good at concentration you should go for HILD or FAT, however if you are usually open to suggestion you may want to try MILD (recomended for beginners).
a harder method, but with a good success rate if you can start it off, is WILD and dream re-entry.
WBTB should be used WITH all these other methods, to increase success rate, and it is almost complusary to use it for WILD and dream re-entry.
WILD is usually more advanced, however some people find it easier than others.
hope that helped!

Wes,
Your best bet, if you have not already begun to do so, is to keep a dream journal and begin to identify dream signs. Also, throughout the day, perform as many reality checks as you can.
After that, I would suggest starting out with MILD.
Everyone is different though, what works well for others might not work well for you, so, you might want to try as many techniques as you can and see which works best.
One thing though, Keep up the journal!

Thanks for the info! I have been keeping a dream journal for a few weeks now but the only problem is, I havnt been able to identify a dream sign yet! My dreams are always so different and random I cant really see re-acurring images...the only constant is that I'm always surrounded by many people (usually people i dont know in my waking life). I don;t think thats a dream sign though because even in real life we're mostly surrounded by people. What kinds of things do you guys use as dream signs? Maybe Im just not looking hard enough...

Dream signs could be everything. You can even make dream signs. Like every time you see a TV you do a reality check. But if you never dream about TV's there is no point in having that dream sign. But at the same time, if you do a reality check everytime you see a TV you could dream about it, and get lucid. ;) But look for the details in your dreams. Recurring things, like when you are in a crowd of unknown people could be a great dream sign, but a very hard on. I myself tries to to a RC everytime i see a friend, cause there are lots of friends in my dreams. Very common dream signs is to look at text, if the text is unstable and changes its a dream. Try to breath trough your nose when holding it, try to look at your nose with one eye and see if its there. Look at your hands and see if they are stable. Thats some of the RC i do and feel comfortable with.

Hi,
I've been at this for about 2 months now. I've tried all the techniques (I think) and I like trying WILD and just going into dreaming from laying down. I've yet to have a lucid dream though so maybe it isn't too good ha i dunno. Anyway I keep a dream journal too and try to look for recurring things. For me my dreams are always populated from a group of the people I know like family and friends and workers, I don't remember any dreams with really strange stuff, they are mostly very realistic and make sense, so dreamsigns are hard to find.
Does that method work for people good, once they are more accomplished. Reality checking in dreams?? I do reality checks at certain times during the day when specific things happen(ex; talk to family member). But have never remembered to do it in dreams, with time once its ingrained in memory, does it work well??
